    Subject: Undercarrage Question
--> Zenith-List message posted by: "Don Gordon" <dojo@polymembranepipe.com.au> This is a question to fellow 701 builders or anyone else who might know. I am scratch building the 701 and am about to make the Main gear spring I have purchased the 6061-T6 section 86mm x 3/4inch thick for this as per plans. But I am getting conflicting advice on bending this to the dimensions on the plans 2 1/4inch radius. firstly this is equal to 3D radius but the specifications for this thickness is over 5D I have had 1 company say that it had to be annealed ( softened ) B4 bending. then needing to be rehardened and aged. How have other builders done this proceess ??????? any sugestions Help Don

--> Zenith-List message posted by: "Shay King" <shaking@eircom.net> Dear List, I'm having a problem fitting the rubber fuel hose to the outlet on the mechanical engine fuel pump on my 912 S. I've tightened the hose clamp but I can still turn the hose on the pump outlet with my fingers. If I tighten the hose clamp much more I think it'll tear the fuel hose. Has anyone else had this happen or am I doing something wrong? Thanks for any advice. Regards, Shay King. 701/912S [ Going to try and put the prop on now]

--> Zenith-List message posted by: Rick <rick.pitcher@verizon.net> I'm putting in some of the controls and landing gear, and need to buy some of that "ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene" that I see everyone speaking so highly of. All I see in the AS&S catalog is Nylon. Where did you guys buy your UHMWPE? Rick .

Plastics supply centres in the yellow pages. UHMW is common and even listed in many of the bigger ads. At least, that worked for me in a big city. Peter Chapman Toronto, Canada

Great post Neil. I too wondered about other low-wing planes that had center-panel mounted selector valves, so the Cherokee explanation makes sense. The fuel tanks in the XL have quick drains on the bottom of each tank, so maybe that would work. > I spoke to Nick Heintz earlier this week about the four tank system. > He said that there would be an updated drawing, 6-W-13A, available some time > next month (Feb) and that they'd be on the web site. > Maybe you should wait until you see the revised system details. That sounds like a good idea to me. My guess is that if they change anything, such as mounting the selector valve on the floor, then they'll have to move the gascolator to a different location other than what is called for on the plans. Which stinks, since I've already mounted the gascolator! Mike Fortunato 601XL

Are you trying to use 3/8" on the outlet? Maybe your problem.
