It is a substantial piece of metal. It is 6061-T6 and I am sure he said the company he had do the job cold bent the gear. Mark maybe you can fill in on the details. This company supplied him with the aluminum already cut to shape so all he had to pay for was the weight. The then took his router to the leading and trailing edges and took it bak to have bent up. All told less than $600 Canadian - less than $400 US. I intend to go to the same supplier to have mine done. This DX is getting a constant speed Prop, so I thought RPM and MAN as analog would be nice as the approx 'sound' of the engine isn't gonna be enough to make a guess of go or no go1 Never flown with a HDS, how does it perform? Is Roland making that too? Regards On Thu, 30 Jan 2003 22:30:32 -0000, thilo.kind@gmx.net wrote: >--> Zenith-List message posted by: > >Hi Sunny, > >where in Germany are you located? It is 2024 T3 which they anneal, bend and do all the machining then harden to T6. Mine weighs 28#, and cost $900. They also gun drill the brake lines and drill the axel holes. It also has a lifetime unlimited guarantee. These are part nos. 6-F-14-4 welded step assembly and 6-F-14-3 extruded angle. The current list price for these parts is $77.40 plus shipping. I will sell the 4 parts for $50(US) which includes shipping via UPS ground anywhere in the country. Outside the US the price would be $38.50(US) plus shipping. I built a custom step installation which eliminates the hump on the bottom of the fuselage so I don't need them, but someone must. Anyone interested, contact me off list. I suspect it was a break press. I talked with Mark this afternoon and he told me the gear for the 701 is significantly smaller than it is for the XL. I didn't know that but now see why someone might want to go with the 2024 for the 701. If you want more information send Mark Townsend an email at 601XL@sympatico.ca.
