At each bend station there is writing on the material of the angle needed and there are slight marks on the surface where the shoes sat while the bend was made. I would have LOVED to have gun drilled brake lines in my gear. Being a Bush plane I am betting sooner then later those external lines are gonna get hooked on sagebrush. Ben Haas. At some future date I'd like to put it on amphi- floats. I have only seen pictures of it on floats in the tricycle (nose wheel) configuration is this just a coincidence? Is it possible to convert from tail wheel to amphi floats or is there some weight and balance issue I am overlooking? Thanks for any info, impressions or links. What are other people doing for the brake lines on the spring aluminum gear? I'm working on the main gear now. Where would you attach floats to a tail wheel airplane? It seems to me you would need a fairly sturdy structure up front to attach to. A tail wheel isn't designed to carry much weight, a nose wheel is. You would also want a more level attitude for an airplane on floats since you fly a floatplane all the way to touchdown without flaring. I suppose you could build a tail wheel airplane with extra hard points for later conversion to floats but it's probably easier to convert a nose wheel airplane to floats simply by removing the land gear and attaching the floats to the same points. I'm no expert on floatplanes, I don't even have the rating, so don't take this as gospel, just my opinion. -- Bryan Martin N61BM, CH 601 XL, Stratus Subaru. Airframe construction complete. You could make the transition but you'd only have a float plane after it was a tail dragger. I am finishing up the fixes to it tonight and will zip it up to send to Zenith. I have asked them for permission to make the fixed CD available for download in ZIP format. If they give me permission to do so then I will post a link to the file in this list. If not then I will post a message so that you know they have the working version and you can then request that they send it to you. I was told that the newer dual-nosewheel floats shown on these websites were developed specifically for taildraggers. I believe Chip Irwin is on this list sometimes, and would be the guy to ask at CZAW. http://www.czaw.cz/ http://czechsportplanes.com/FLOATS.htm Darryl West rdwest@shaw.ca http://members.shaw.ca/rdwest/ > -----Original Message----- > From: owner-zenith-list-server@matronics.com > [mailto:owner-zenith-list-server@matronics.com]On Behalf Of Martin > Nackman > Sent: Sunday, February 02, 2003 12:49 PM > To: zenith-list@matronics.com > Subject: Zenith-List: tail dragger on floats? > > > --> Zenith-List message posted by: "Martin Nackman" > > I am considering the 601 HD kit and plan on building > it as a tail dragger.
