Buy scrap material from Spruce (they bundle cutoff ends for welding practice) if you don't have any. And if you don't know much about welding, the best way to get your feet wet would be with a vocational or adult learning course at the local community college. There's nothing as effective as a real live teacher. ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 02:40:20 PM PST US From: "Larry McFarland" Subject: Re: Zenith-List: TIG welding... --> Zenith-List message posted by: "Larry McFarland" Jari, Lots of practice of course, but one of the important things I learned was to use enough amperage to be able to avoid touching down, ever to avoid contaminating the weld. All the other aspects of TIG welding are much the same, and I assume you have a foot pedal rather than a straight setup. Consider using 5052H32 for fuel tanks at .040 or .050.thickness. It's cheaper and the added thickness will not oil can. Use a piece of round stock and your air powered riveting gun to impress diagonal reinforcement as well. I believe in the 4th or 5th segment of my journal there's a lot said on TIG welding a header tank and process. I have a Microair radio and Lynx headsets. When the turn and slip indicator is running the interference is blotting out the radio. I have tried putting a 2200mf and a .1mf capacitor between the positive and negative power leads to the T and S which cuts out some of the noise. Can some one offer a fix to complete the job and cut the interference to an acceptable level. Almost ready for final assembly and test flying. G-CCED 601 UL with rotax 100 hp engine. regards Paul UK. ________________________________ Message 5 _____________________________________ Time: 07:13:29 PM PST US From: Benford2@aol.com Subject: Re: Zenith-List: electrical noise from turn and slip indicator. --> Zenith-List message posted by: Benford2@aol.com In a message dated 5/24/2003 4:19:52 PM Mountain Daylight Time, r.p.reynolds@blueyonder.co.uk writes: > > --> Zenith-List message posted by: "r.p.reynolds" < > r.p.reynolds@blueyonder.co.uk> > > Dear Zenair builders, > I am completing my dash panel and have run into a problem with electrical > or RF noise which is comming from my 12 volt dc powered turn and slip > indicator. > I have a Microair radio and Lynx headsets.
