Hi Gang,
While at S-N-F 2003 I came across a company who does this type of work on
aircraft panels at .50 per label (look at the standard placards) $30.00 for the
Inst panel, fuel tanks, Radio Call No's, Fuel selector valve, Check out their
web site <A HREF="www.engravers.net">www.engravers.net, Cheers

That lost medical might not keep you from flying your Zenith.

Looks like a nice plane -- the starting bid is at $50K.

For those of you who have installed wing tanks..
If I add a wing tank to my 601, planning to pump the contents up into the
top of the current main tank, do I need a finger screen in the wing tank
supply pickup and a purge valve in the wing tank - by law, and also
practically?

Subject: | XL: Gap between fuel tank and top nose skin |

Hello listers,
Upon closing up the nose skin, I've got a small gap between the top of the
fuel tanks and the top skin at the fuel tank filler ports. The tanks are
corked as specified in the plans. Have any other builders encountered this?
If so, did you do anything to bond the top skin down on the fuel tank and if
so, what process/material did you use to bond the skin to the tank?
Please see <http://home.earthlink.net/~ac6qj/zodiac/problems.htm>
Thank to all!
Best Regards, Ray Montagne

Same here. The only thing I've tried so far was to slice a slit in a
large o-ring the size of the hole in the nose skin, and when I slip it in
place it seals most of the gap. Only problem is the top of the o-ring
sticks up a bit, and I'm not sure I like the way it looks. So, I may just
caulk the opening around the edge with silicon. The goal would be to get
enough of a seal so that wind doesn't blow under the skin. Still open to
ideas though....

I can't get out of the pattern because of cooling problems. I barely climb
to 2000' and the temp reaches 230 deg. My muffler hangs in front of the rad
and I think that might be one problem. Would you guys mind looking at my
muffler and telling me if you have a similar setup? Click on the following
link to look... Mykal looked at the same pictures and said that the other
muffler he offers wouldn't clear the attachment frame.

Thanks for the "O" ring suggestion. I'm less concerned about it sticking up
than being open for grit and grime. The only other thing I've come up with
is MarineTex which sets hard but can be filed to a smooth surface...

Not sure what the law sez but if you had a bunch of water in the
wing tanks , you would probably be in the air when
you started transferring it to the main tank. That would be bad
if it overwhelmed your gascolator.

That is not an issue here. The tanks are sealed. It is a gap between the
sealed tank and the skin that is at issue. The photos posted in the
"problem" section of my web page will give you a better idea of what is
going on. You'll see the tank filler cap perfectly sealed but an air gap
between the tank and the skin.

John,
Is there cowling of some sort that goes on the intake side. If not, how
does the air flow, what makes it work? Is the outlet cowled tightly and in
a low pressure area.
It's hard to see details from the pics.

I'm not at this point yet, but it would seem like the air would have a
hard time flowing through the radiator.
For those flying with Subaru's is it common practice to install the
radiator so it hangs down up front instead of hanging down in back?
Seems like you could create a better funnel the other way.
