Here what I know about the Zipper pictured on my web
site:
"This "Zipper" belongs to Dick Baner. It was built in
1985 and flown for the first time in spring 2000, the
plane sat in a hangar for four or five years. This is
number 7 of a total of 12 twins built. They also built
a greater number of single place which were the same
plane with a single engine same as the two on this
one. Dick had a single years ago but put a 277 Rotax
on it. The engines on the twin are PUL425 engines
built in France by JPX and each produces around 22 hp.
They have not built any of these since around 1985 and
Chris Heintz no longer owns the design. Top cruise
speed is around 40-45 mph. "

Im installing my COM antenna, a Comant CI 122 Bent Whip that goes on
the bottom (601 HDS). Is there any issue with proximity to the
following :
1. Transponder Antenna
2. Battery
3. Strobe Power Supply
I know it needs to be away from the GPS and ELT antenna's.
Also, does it matter if its installed off-center? (need to keep coax
away from control cables)
Thanks
Andrew

The crimped threads on the nutplate provides the "lock", & lubing it will not
change that. Lubing it will prevent corrosion though. If it were such a no-no
then Corrosion-X wouldn't be allow to be sprayed all over the insides of wings
& fuselages.

I put my COM antenna on the top just ahead of the baggage bulkhead supported
from beneath
by a twice-bent piece of .090 aluminum. Probably easier to get at and
farther from the Xponder stub.
It shouldn't matter if you're off center down there though, but I'd stay
clear of the other antenna.

The advice I've heard is to keep transmitting antennas at least 3 feet away
from receiver antennas

No problem.

It's best not to run the coax very close to the power supply, keep it a few
inches away.

No problem.

New CH701 / Rotax 912 photo assembly guides..
Just a quick heads-up for anyone currently working on their 701 rotax 912
installation... It appears as though ZAC posted some more updates to the 701
photo assembly guides today (08/07/03).
Registered ZAC builders can find the new 701 photo-guides at
http://www.zenithair.com/stolch701/7up-manuals.html.

Ed,
Great timing of your post...... I was just installing the cowl for my 701
and checked these new updates. They are now installing the cowl on the
OUTSIDE of the fuse skin rather than underneath... and... they now show a
cutout for the oil cooler below the bottom of the lower cowl. AMAZING how
they change these things so often... Also, noticed there are no more formed
radiator hoses to be used .. all silicon straight hoses only!
Thanks

I just picked up my FWF and Engine at Oshkosh last week! Timing was great
for me too! I haven't looked at the guides in detail yet... Looks like I'll
have something to read this weekend...
Take Care, Ed.

I highly recommend the 912ULS for float operation. Let me know if you
need an engine with the normal starter. It works fine and you will not
need any mount modification.

Can anyone advize me if the 80 hp 912 is sufficient for amphibious
floats or should I get the 912s which means changing my engine mount due
to the new heavy duty starter. Thanks
