Let's keep this list for discussion of Zenith aircraft only. I am sure there
are far left socialists as well as far right fascists who are building
airplanes. Regardless of everyone's position on the political spectrum,
everyone is entitled to respect, dignity and support in this forum.

Thank you, Dave. Couldn't have said it better.
Tailwinds,

P.S. If a radical left appears, just use lots of right rudder.

I'm a lefty myself. Thank God ZAC builds the engine mount with an angle to
the right, or my plane and I would be as far left as I could get! :{)

Subject: | 701 preformed windshield question! |
--> Zenith-List message posted by: ZSMITH3rd@aol.com
Okay, Gents - Mine is a kit from the era of transition between hand-drawn and
CAD blueprints. I got one of the first pre-formed windshields. The
instructions are not clear, to me at least, as to how the windshield is attached
across the top of the fuselage top nose skin. Photos, everywhere I look, show
the
rubber channel all the way around the bottom.
So, is the rubber "glued" to the plexiglas, then that assembly "glued" to
nose top skin? I must assume silicon from a squeeze tube is intended here??
Just can't find any screw or rivet attachment around the bottom. Rear/side
and top attachment is easily understood. Apparently I did not get the "how to"
on this part.
Suggestions appreciated. I have it trimmed, buffed clear on the edges, and
ready to deflect breeze; just not clear as to the finer points of making sure
it doesn't depart in flight.
Thanks
Zed Smith/701/R912/leftover parts pile getting real small.

Zed,
I used the photo assembly manual on windshield installation to figure these
thing out:
http://www.zenithair.com/stolch701/7up-manuals.html
There is one on just windshield installation for the formed piece.
Good luck

I'd like to add my congratulations to those who have taken that first huge
step and "winged it" with their creation. In particular, I'd like to
congratulate my friend and neighbor, Dave New on the first flight of his
601. That plane is a work of art and is a true "scratch built " from the
trim motor, which Dave built from copy machine parts, to the engine and
redrive installation with a beautiful and original radiator setup tucked
neatly inside the cowl.
Congratulations!
Dave Fisher, 701 with Continental. 90% ?
