Larry, if I can jump in with my 'two cents worth'...
I use what you've listed - but my total is only 15???
top cowl to forward skin = 3
lower cowl to side skin (2x3) = 6
two horizontal edges (2x3) = 6
total = 15
In the forward corners of the horizontal joints (where Zenair used the
'pins') I've used #40 dzus to make the longer reach caused by the curve. As
someone else mentions, i also backed the inside of the fiberglass cowl with
a strip of alu where the dzus fasteners are riveted on.
These seem to be more than enough. I've removed these things many more
times that I'd originally intended ... so I'm glad I kept it as simple as
possible...
