This update was posted on the jabiruengines list by Andy Silvester, the southern US Jab distributor. When Andy or Pete Krotje post something it pays to be attentive, they know their products. For you 801 builders that want the Jab 5100 but think you might need a few more amps, this is a good lead. For 3300 owners, the hint that we might be able to retrofit is also good news. FWIW, I still have the original three-phase 15 amp alternator and with my limited panel it's fine. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - +++ Some Jabiru 8 - cylinder engine customers are (too) needing more power than the standard alternator output. In response, Jabiru are developing a dual / tandem alternator setup for the 8 - cylinder, which effectively puts an additional 20 amp alternator behind the standard one. The setup will use an additional rectifier / regulator, which means a completely autonomous dual alternator setup. Our hope is that this will be offered for retro-fitting on the 3300 engine as well. No firm dates yet, but the design is fairly simple and so we should see it offered within the next few months. It's full of useful hints for Jab engine and a/c owners and is (or was) the only source for factory info that I knew of. Jaba Chat is now posted on the AU factory website http://www.jabiru.net.au/ click on Jaba Chat. Tailwinds jeff
