Hi Martin got your envelope a few days ago thanks, I have good luck using a slapper made of lead, approx 3/4-1" wide ,10-12" long and 1/2 to5/8" thick LOW&SLOW John ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 04:55:13 AM PST US From: "Scott Laughlin" Subject: Re: Zenith-List: 701 Root Rib... --> Zenith-List message posted by: "Scott Laughlin" A metal shrinker will work. I see them on Ebay all the time. Do a search on "metal shrinker." $229 to $260 for the shrinker/stretcher pair. $150 for just the shrinker. I'm thinking about getting one too. ----Original Message Follows---- From: "Martin & Eva Bima" Subject: Zenith-List: 701 Root Rib... --> Zenith-List message posted by: "Martin & Eva Bima" I have formed the root rins around the form, but unlike the full size ribs, they are curved without using the fluting pliers. It takes off sharpee marks too. That's what the ZAC folks told me to do at the rudder building class. ----Original Message Follows---- From: "Lumkes, John Jr." Subject: Zenith-List: Removing zinc chromate? --> Zenith-List message posted by: "Lumkes, John Jr." Hi, I have a strange request. I was overzealous with the application of zinc chromate on the outside of the tail skins with the thought that it would at least be under each rivet head on the outside of the skin. I realize that I can just leave it and sand/buff it when the day ever arrives to paint it, but it looks pretty bad and I would possibly test fly before painting, etc. So the question is: Is there any easy way (solvent) to wipe the zinc chromate off of the smooth outside skin surfaces without damaging anything? Not a big deal either way, but I thought I would ask. Thanks! John Compare Cable, DSL or Satellite plans: As low as $29.95. https://broadband.msn.com ________________________________ Message 4 _____________________________________ Time: 05:25:40 AM PST US From: "Bill Howerton" Subject: Re: Zenith-List: Removing zinc chromate? --> Zenith-List message posted by: "Bill Howerton" That's what I use as well: lacquer thinner. MEK is a little too strong, the fumes are pretty toxic and IMHO it doesn't do as good a job as lacquer thinner for removing excess zinc chromate or for removing sharpie marks ----- Original Message ----- From: "Scott Laughlin" Subject: Re: Zenith-List: Removing zinc chromate? > --> Zenith-List message posted by: "Scott Laughlin" > > I used lacquer thinner.
