      Doug,
There are good and bad places to drill holes in the spar webs. I would
propose the location and size to Chris or Nick at ZAC, they have advised me
      on this in the past.

I would check with ZAC before adding holes close to the root, since this
      is a high stress area.

Hear say can get you in trouble. For what it's worth, I would use what
      the manufacturer recommends.

      Robert,
The lower rear skin gets cut out behind the spar (30 mm front to back) &
also in front of the rear channel (50 mm front to back) for access to the
wing attachment bolts. They don't show a cut out dimension from side to
side. This info is on page 7-V-7 in the drawings.

DOT 5 is silicone based I believe which should be compatible w/ any system components.
I would research this more before I did it though!

I've had DOT5 brake fluid in my system for 11 years now. Big advantage is
that it does not absorb water nearly as badly as normal.

      Zenith List
I now have a little over 18 hrs on my
CH 601 HDS Taildragger. Has a EA 81 Subaru built my self, The water Temp has been
running about 220-230 and the oil temp has been running close to 250. Have
tried different oil coolers and they have helped. Installed a 7 row Harrison
oil cooler off of a certified plane. Mounted it in front of the oil pan. Had
to modify the cowling but it is worth it. The oil now runs at 215 and water at
      210. I think I can improve on this after I seal around the opening in cowl to
the cooler. Still a fantastic flying airplane.

On the 801 we all drilled those holes before riveting on the root skins.
Isn't the 701 the same way?????????
