I don't see anyone posting information here about building the CH-640.
Am I the only one on the list building the CH-640?
Well, my fuselage kit arrived Monday and I have just finished checking in
all the parts today.
Zenith didn't do too bad... I have almost all the parts <grin>
Heck, I even have a few parts that are not on the pick list <smile>
I try to keep my web site updated as I am building so feel free to visit it
at
http://www.madbbs.com/~jpaden
All comments and/or suggestions are always welcome!

If you bulid it right, there's nothing much to worry about with any part of
the 601. If you 'strengthen' it, you run the risk of concentrating loads
into parts that were never meant to take them. Whatever mods you'd like,
STRONGLY suggest you clear it with Chris Heinz first (didn't catch your
address, but in Canada this is a mandatory requirement for any structural
mods)
You mention the tail - in the archives you should find some info about a
Canadian UL version in Calgary that was over-stressed in a spiral dive
recovery.. speed well above envolope... fwiw

Dan,you mention William Wynne`s`s rep for being a
straight shooter.I attended his forum at Oshkosh in
2oo2 and afterwords told him of a low RPM problem I
was having with the Corvair I installed in my Grega
GN-1 Aircamper. After Oshkosh was over he drove here
(300 miles) to see if he could help out.I had`nt even
used his conversion manual.I used Berne
Pietenpol`s.William even gave me a set of the proper
points to use,the kind with a nut and bolt to hold the
wires on rather than a push on terminal.Yea,I`d say he
is a straight shooter. John P.

Hi Jeff,
I plan to build a CH-640. I bought the plans about 6 months ago and am
currently busy getting my garage ready to go. Unfortunately, I have
been busier than I had hoped and have not been able to get started yet.
I am still trying to decide whether to scratch build or go with a kit.

My 88 c.i. Harley Davidson motor weighs 214 lbs. That is with
everything except for the prop. That's with all the bolts, rubber
mounts, exhaust etc. The 95 c.i. motor makes about 115hp. and 125 ft.
lbs. of torque and weighs less at 211 lbs.. The 88 c.i. is 85hp. and 90
torque. They are kind of pricey at $8500 but still not as bad as the
Rotax.

Subject: | 601 XL: Brake Line Routing |
--> Zenith-List message posted by: "Phil Maxson" <pmaxpmax@hotmail.com>
I'm preparing to route the brake lines from the rear of the gear legs into
the cabin. What path did you people use?
It seems like you could take the lines into the cabin behind the seat and
through the armrest area and up to the front along side the torque tube for
the stick.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks,
Phil Maxson

Hi,
I think there are a few CH640 builders out there. I am considering buying a
kit myself after Christmas, but am not sure how many people are building
this design, or how many are flying. Anyone know?
Regards
Bernie Garrett
