What I've got figured out so far: The web template is an exact image of rear-rib #1 of the wing. It's used to set the distance and relative angles between the spar and rear channel, at the attachment. My concern is about the 75mm dimension at the rear channel on page 6-B-13 (making the template). If my spar is not set at perfect 81 degrees (75 don't jive when compared to the wing root), should I try to lock in that 75mm figure on the template and adjust the spar-angle on the template(s) to make it fit (whether 80 or 82)?? Or is the 75mm just a measure of how accurate the wing's angle of incidence will be, as built?? Or is the 75mm important at all? Should I just eat some bran and quit being so anal about this.?? (ie, too late to do anything) The archives show lots of confusion in the past, so I'm wondering how this has worked out for others (where are you, Mike, Mark, Joe, Bill,...?) Nick offered some help, but didn't explain the 75mm. Comments appreciated, thanks in advance, Rico __________________________________ ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 06:12:37 AM PST US From: "Ronnie Koonce" Subject: Re: Zenith-List: elevator cables. 701 --> Zenith-List message posted by: "Ronnie Koonce" On mine there is a noticeable , although slight difference in the tension. The most tension is at full forward and right of the stick, the least is full aft and left. The bungee cord causes this. If the belcrank had been centered, like a CUB, I think this would not have been a factor. I was really worried about the difference, but now that I'm flying it, the control inputs are so small as to make it a non issue during most flights. Don't worry about it, and keep going. I lost a couple of days fiddling with it. ________________________________ Message 3 _____________________________________ Time: 08:57:52 AM PST US From: Jack Russell Subject: Re: Zenith-List: XL center spar wing jig --> Zenith-List message posted by: Jack Russell Rico: I spent a day cyphering on this spar template. I finally built it to the plans. Although the plans do mention it I figured out the the top of the template must be level ( and the top longeron 6b11-1 must be level) for any of the angles to work out. When said and done the rear channel on the template does not meet flush with the top of the rear channel attachment bracket on the plane but after looking at pictures of others this seems to be the norm. Perhaps the following pictures will help. http://www.geocities.com/clojan@sbcglobal.net/zodiacbarn2.html Jack Russell Clovis, CA xl- jab3300 --> Zenith-List message posted by: Rico Voss What I've got figured out so far: The web template is an exact image of rear-rib #1 of the wing. There was always a time/RPM one hour break-in protocol on the Rotax 2 strokers I have used in the past. Thursday I fired up the 912 for the first time, had oil pressure right away, all the temps were in the green and there were no leaks anywhere but I didn't run any high RPM's and shut it down after .2 hours to check for anything loose , leaking, or burning. Today I did a short taxi just to sit in the 701 and make it move for .1 hour. ( Killed some bugs too ) What are the recommendations? My 912S uses a 4 inch circle.
