--> Zenith-List message posted by: "Philip A. C." <paclimited@hotmail.com> Pardon the question... but dumbness is in staying ignorant, not in asking: Most direct drive engines run around 3300-3500 rpm max, and 3000 rpm continuous. But most of the propellers are rated 2700 rpm max. How do you make sense of that? You run your engine under-power, or you run your prop overspeed? I'd be glad if someone could explain. Thanks Philip

--> Zenith-List message posted by: "Thomas F Marson" <tmarson@pressenter.com> You put on a prop with a smaller diameter and greater pitch. This keeps the tip speed below sonic and the additional pitch loads the engine enough to absorb the power. Tom ----- Original Message ----- From: "Philip A. That said, the propellor is usually selected and sized to support power & rpms expected for the application. i.e. VW props are very small but turn much higher rpms for much smaller aircraft. Can't see the logic of limiting rpm to less power output per pound of engine. Most engines are selected to obtain the best output with or without redrive. Larry McFarland - 601hds at 98%

--> Zenith-List message posted by: Dabusmith@aol.com List My Mac elevator trim switch has been acting up lately. The trim switch felt so cheap when it was new I thought it must be that way so it wouldn't have runaway problems. Wrong. I am hoping the trouble goes away. It has been intermittent and only when trim is selected. So far, it stops when I toggle it back. The good news is it is not hard to fly the plane safely with the trim full up or down. Even on take off and landing. Dave Smith N701XL 42hr. PS I have got to see that Hog! Too Cool. >do not archive<

--> Zenith-List message posted by: daddybob <daddybob52954@yahoo.com> Man that thing sounds so cool on my daughter's computer with the big woofer! It is so wild to hear a Hog and see an airplane! That really rocks. I played that thing all day yesterday. My wife found it and me insufferable. I couldn't play it in Netscape either. It works fine in MSIE and Windows Media Player for me, and looks really good when I use the full window option. Some of you who are having trouble may need some Windows updates, but I don't really know, I just keep mine updated. If all of this works out and shakes out well, it really thrills me to know that there may be an engine available to guys like me out in the sticks that you can always find a mechanic and parts for. Harley riders are everywhere and the Harley Davidson corporate turnaround has become a business legend. This may even get a lot more people interested in small aviation. Keep up the good work Brett! --> Zenith-List message posted by: Gary Gower <ggower_99@yahoo.com> Brett: Great video, great engine instalation, congratulations!!! Only one comment. How are the head temp readings? Did you did some airflow design? The redrive suport looks too big in front the engine, preventing air to go betwen the cilinders... Just a comment, I know you worked it out. Congrats once more time, any engine alternative for airplanes is appreciated and deserves all the support available from the aviation comunity... --> Zenith-List message posted by: Keith Ashcraft <keith.ashcraft@itt.com> Hello All, First of all, congratulations on the flight. The method that I have used to view the files, is to right-click on the link, and then do a "Save Link Target As..", then save the file to my disk. The Browser I use is Mozilla, (same as Netscape). Then I use Windows Media Player 7.01. The files will not play for me unless I save them to the hard disk first. Good luck!! Again, congrats on the flights. And parts will be real easy to find. I will have motor packages available once I am done testing and satisfied wiht the results. But not before. > --> Zenith-List message posted by: daddybob <daddybob52954@yahoo.com> > > Man that thing sounds so cool on my daughter's > computer with the big woofer!
