Hi James
Ray Lasnier is building a 601HD with nose wheel he has used the XL drawings
for his engine mount you should be able to shorten the length of this by 4
to 7 inches depending on weather you wish to be able to remove the generator
with the engine mounted.
He believes if you can get the front end off a Cesna 150 this will fit fine.
We believe the fully fitted engine weight will be 240 to 250 lbs with a
wooden prop. He has a generator & original starter I believe a light weight
starter & alternator are available at a considerable cost. He is also using
Wing tanks only as the estimated finished painted unladen weight seems to be
approaching 700 lbs
Ray has a fibreglass cowl from someone in UK but will have to extensively it
modify to fit.

You're exactly right. The 601, to have an effective roll bar would have to
have structure that triangulates the strength in several directions. The
601
is not the cage that would support a genuine roll bar. A roll bar that
wasn't
integrated with the structure in a mutual strength support relationship
might
just become a hazard to the pilot. The added "loop" from lower longerons
past upper longerons and extension would appear to be useless in a tip over
that had a lot of movement in it.
I believe the BRS, although a good thing, is better suited to aircraft that
have
a higher structural risk, like gliders, gyros etc.
Best advice,
Stick with the plans and fly safely.

Dear Listers,
Pacbell is suppose to be working the Matronics connectivity issue this
morning. Intermittent connectivity is still a issue although things are
better than yesterday. They will probably be doing some intrusive testing
on the line later today which will disrupt connections during the test.
More information as it becomes available!
Thanks for your patience.

Hi Paul,
I can scan it and send it if you agree. I have the sheet that comes
with the strobe kit.
