--> Zenith-List message posted by: "The Minearts" <smineart@kdsi.net> Here's 2c worth about providing access to the fingerscreen ( fuel tank outlet) through the LE skin. If you want to put in the cover with its nutplates as shown on the plans, leave a rivet-free zone when drilling the skin to the noseribs NR-3 & 4. It's not mentioned in the manual, and I had already drilled the holes when I discovered it. ZAC doesn't have this on their demo ship, but added it to meet anticipated LSA requirements. I decided to cut the hole, and made a cover to be riveted on with the skin. FWIW, Steve Mineart, N164SM 601XL, tail, L-wing 90%

--> Zenith-List message posted by: "Dejan Vucinic" <n713z@hotmail.com> > --> Zenith-List message posted by: Carlos Sa <carlosfsa@yahoo.com> > Why wouldn't you use the gray DuPont self-etching primer instead of zinc stuff? Between parts, you mean? I'm not sure, might be as good or better. The reason for putting zinc in there is to have it corrode first. For illustration, some diesel engines on big ships are cooled with seawater, so the circulation system has a big chunk of zinc near the inlet to prevent the electrolytes from corroding the plumbing. This pellet of zinc gets eaten away and needs to be replaced every once in a while. Similarly, any water trapped between parts on an airplane can stay there for a long time, so if there's a fresh supply of electrolytes from, say, acid rain these places will corrode first. Of course, zinc won't prevent corrosion of aluminum in that case, only delay its onset until it wastes away. I don't know whether the DuPont primer contains any zinc, but if it completely sealed away moisture (probably not unless coated with paint) it could plausibly do a better job than zinc chromate. > BTW, do you have a product number of some more specific identification? I'll look it up when I get home next week. It's sold at auto paint stores in dark green and light gray versions. Gray is bright enough on aluminum to not require a white first coat under most colors. > --> Zenith-List message posted by: Brandon Tucker <btucke73@yahoo.com> > Check this gun out. Zinc will gum it up, though. Spray cans win. --dv N713Z

My apologies. I had lept to the conclusion that since you posted the link, you were the person selling. My mistake. Frank Stutzman Bonanza N494B "Hula Girl" Hood River, OR
