--> Zenith-List message posted by: Hal Rozema <hartist1@cox.net> When you are working on the top and bottom skins, towards the rear... potentially getting ready to squeeze rivet the trailing edge, I discovered quite by accident that one can cleco the entire trailing edge onto a nice straight wood 2x2, thereby keeping the whole thing straight and true. The clecos will bite into the wood a do a great job of securing a true trailing edge line. I'll post some "wing construction" pictures on our website in the next few weeks as work and the 701 permit. see http://ThePlaneFolks.Net Hal Rozema ThePlaneFolks.Net MElrod3732@aol.com wrote: > --> Zenith-List message posted by: MElrod3732@aol.com > > Hi Group I started construction on my 701 last Nov. and I am finishing up > on the tail feathers. > Before I start on the wings, I would appreciate any building tips and/or > advice on possible problem areas and any special techniques on making the process > easier. > > Thanks in advance >

--> Zenith-List message posted by: "Robert Schoenberger" <hrs1@frontiernet.net> I'm just finishing up my right 701 wing. On the left wing I think I am going to draw the 10 mm rivit drill line in from the flat side of each rib so that the holes align better with the predrilled holes in the spar and the skins. Make sure you get the photo construction manual for the wing from the ZAC site - it's immensely helpful. --> Zenith-List message posted by: "Dave Alberti" <daberti@execpc.com> Yesterday I got my 912S powered HD in the air...The first time since early November. It was also my first flight with the wheel pants on the plane and they stayed on!!(not that I really thought they would fall off). I tell you it felt just like my first flight last August but without the test pilot pucker factor! I thought about it all last night too. You guys getting close to completion will soon know the feeling, and those just starting...PRESS ON. Dave do not archive

--> Zenith-List message posted by: Joemotis@aol.com Greetings listers Concerning wing construction on the 601 XL; The photo guides on laying out the "L" stiffeners in regards to RR1 offers a "suggestion" for riveting the L angle on the inside of the flange to avoid interference with the fuselage skin, but the prints say to lay them out on the out side and trim them to 15 MM. to clear the fuselage skin. What is everyone's 2 cents on this one? My opinion is to layout and rivet them on the inside of the rib, that way no trimming or distortion of the stiffener occurs. The construction manual says the prints always supercede the photo guide but? And which side should the rivet head be on if I choose to place them on the inside of the rib?
