While I'm wasting everybody's time........what is the purpose of ,or use for, the "wire roll" or "wire channels" found on one end of slip rollers? Don't own one, been looking, but nobody at local sheetmetal shops seems to know. It also mentioned that a fuel sender cover had been run by ZAC and was approved. Nothing on finger screen covers, though. The fact that a rubber hose fuel line, that I feel needs inspection annually, that has no provision to be inspected is unacceptable. Any info on size, layout and rivnuts, golden rules etc. appreciated Even with metal fuel lines, I still want to get to that fitting. Also, what about the strobe flasher in the wingtip? Drilling out rivets to replace a burned out flasher unit seems like a hard way to go. Whats the opinions on that one? If I had a leak at the fitting I didn't want to undo rivets. In the wing where it is hard to see I used Tygon fuel line (I've been told it lasts for years). See http://members.thegateway.net/cfd/ for strobe, tank installation and fuel setup. Chuck D. I put my strobe power supplies under the seats accessible through the spar bolt access panels. With shielded wire running to the strobes and the units surrounded by aluminum and well away from the audio circuits it shouldn't be a problem. -- Bryan Martin N61BM, CH 601 XL, Stratus Subaru. On the pilot's side the floor location is set closer to the forward rudder pedal to account for the left side being in front of the right side. On the passenger side the right pedal is in the way of locating the brake cylinder the same as the pilot side. Any suggestions? would moving the cylinder back a couple of inches pose a problem in the output power of the left brakes as operated from the passenger seat? By much experimentaiton I have found 2 inches is optimum for most systems. One inch is minimum. If you have any doubts call Matco ---- they will verify this. Without the forward location of the base of the master cylinder the possible pressure is greatly reduced. The two inspectors were nice guys, gave the plane and the paperwork a close review, and signed it off. They both left saying they want to build one. Today was decent from the weather standpoint...a little bit breezy, but straight down the runway. My wife, Deb, and I went up to PAE about 9:00 AM. I made one taxi down the full length of the runway to be sure everything still felt right. The next time down I lifted a few feet in the air then landed again. The time was right, so I taxied over to the long runway and took off. Everything was uneventful and I orbited the pattern once before coming in for a landing back on the short runway. No surprises at all...it performs just as advertised. 10 knots straight down the runway made for some pretty impressive take-off and landing rolls, I am going to be out of town for a week starting tomorrow, so it will be a while before I can actually check out the numbers and performance.
