Someone recently mentioned an issue with the outboard end of the flap
having excess movement when retracted. I was at ZAC Monday and noticed on
their demo they have a piece of nylon ~1/8 thick and a couple inches long
riveted on the wing, similar to the aileron stop, but at the top of the
wing to contact the outboard edge of the flap when it is full up. When in
flight the flap is held against the stop with air pressure. It didn't
appear to bother the paint in the area of contact either.

Rick,
Your numbers look great! I would be happy if my HD will hit 120~ with
the same horsepower!
Looking at that picture... Looks like you are running on the left take
but the gauge is in the red! SWITCH TANKS FAST!!!!

I had trouble believing the ASI at first myself. I knew she FELT fast,
but I'm usually
skeptical of the advertised numbers on company websites. The next day I
put the GPS on the
panel and went flying again. It was a dead calm morning and I made a
couple different runs
going both ways with the same results: at ~2500 RPM I was indicating 110
MPH and the GPS
showed 110 MPH. Lemme see if I can find the pics... ah, here's one:

I built the pitot mast shown in the Bingelli book with the "piccilo
tube" static port just
above the pitot tube. It's mounted under the left wing just outboard of
the leading edge
tanks.

Yeah, that's the "easy way", but it does put the staic source in a bit
of a low-pressure
area.
Frank, how much does your HDS weigh, and what engine are you using?
I'm thinking about building a set of HDS wing panels later on. This
project is just about
done and I still want to BUILD something :)

My tech support question that I posed to ZAC about this issue included
just that -- install a positive stop as one way to fix this. The other is
to pull the flaps off and start over, so I think I'll try this method
first.
Craig, thanks very much for checking the demo XL!

Hello Randy.
I wanted to let you know that your information regarding the shipping of my
engine with the help of Wylie Yates really paid off. He made me a great
deal. Good service and a nice guy.
Thank you very much for your help.
Best wishes

Rather than repeat the story, go to
http://www.geocities.com/r5t0ut21/shipping.html and read the story about how
I shipped my Corvair engine from New Hampshire to Texas. These guys saved me
a lot of money over what it would have cost if I just tried to do it myself.
