From: caspainhower@aep.com 03/16/2004 07:31:24 AM --> Zenith-List message posted by: caspainhower@aep.com Matco recommends the Aviation Red or Silicone fluid in their service manual. You may want to contact them if you have any concerns about using the silicone. Craig S. In the past they did > not. Why not just flush out the silicone and refill with Aviation Red. > This e-mail message and all attachments transmitted with it from the Nuclear Generation Group of American Electric Power are for the sole use of the intended recipient(s) and may contain confidential and privileged information. The radius of the bend in the longeron is longeron than the radius of the cut in the skin. If pressure is applied to the longeron so that the forward end meets the skin then there is a gap at the apex of the curve. Clearly some tweaking to the bend is necessary. Looking at the longeron thickness of 0.093 in (which I believe equates to 10 gauge), I'm not able to find a Shrinker Stretcher at a reasonable price that handles anything larger than 16 gauge aluminum. Has anyone else encountered this problem and if so, how did you solve re-bending the 6B2-3 bottom longeron? How are you scratch builders handling this? Thanks in advance!!! It wasn't too hard to adjust the bend to fit. Figure out where to make the adjustment and then make it a little at a time. Grab an end of the longeron and swing it down and slap that area against a suitable surface to tweek the curve in the proper direction. Once you get it close to the proper shape, you can clamp it to the skin and drill it. As long is it's close, the rivets will give it its final shape.
