Congratulations on staying cool enough to make a great landing and takeoff! I'd
sure thank the police!
My off-airport gliding landing was less fun, but VERY educational!

Thanks to all who helped. There is a screwdriver adjustment on the icom
unit for sidetone. That did the trick.

Awesome!....Sorry I been asleep when this issue came up. I have the same
combo and same issue. When I called (whever it was) they told me the ICOM
did not have the ability to adjust the sidetone.
So where is this little ajustment...My Wife will love you forever.
Now if I could find a way to stop the ignition noise coming over the radio
as wel that would be sweet.
Thanks
Frank...the other Frank that is.

N801YP is listed on the FAA national registry. Nothing
about an accident though.

Subject: | Engine AND ignition working |
--> Zenith-List message posted by: Michel Therrien <mtherr@yahoo.com>
Hi Group,
The weekend has been a good weekend. Finally, I got
the engine working with the Nippodenso/GM HEI setup...
Today, I got the aircraft registration done.... Fun to
see my name and plane in the Transport Canada
database!
We sat in the plane tied down to the ground and ran
the engine for a while at 4400 rpm.. FUN! Cooling
appears to be good so I'm getting confident that I'll
have final inspection in may or june (if school leaves
me some time to finish preparing the aircraft).
Thanks to those of you who contacted me last week to
help.
I have a video online of engine turning, but it is a
big file for what you get... (is there a way to make
more efficient video files?)

Brian,
It is quite straightforward if you adhere to the photo
manual and reference the print for the proper angles.
Try not to trim 7f9-8 to short or you will miss 7f5-4,
it will take several fit ups to get it right. The 7f12
page of details spells it all out, the top of page
7f15 has the angles and written instructions. You may
want your gear/strut fittings on hand and fit them at
the same time. I ended up buying an aircraft angle
drill after it took me 5 hours to drill the 8 holes
through the bottom channel with makeshift drill
adapters, you may be able to drill yours before final
assembly and save the aggravation and expense. If you
are building from a kit the cage will be very helpful.
I think I fussed and fidgited with it for a week off
and on before I was comfortable and drilled the first
hole, but I didn't have wing dimensions or cabin frame
fabbed yet so I measured 63 times and drilled once and
it turned out real good.
Good luck and success on your latest milestone.
