--> Zenith-List message posted by: Leo Gates <leogates@allvantage.com> I have both, pneumatic and hand riveters. I used the hand riveter only in places not accessible to the pneumatic one. I have mild arthritis in my hands - pneumatic worked great. I also have three young grandchildren. No way could they hand pull a rivet. They all successfully helped grandpa build his airplane with the pneumatic one. I know that the demo XL has the RP3 LED indicator. (http://www.rayallencompany.com/products/indsens.html) What have other folks got in their kits? RP2 or RP3 (LED). Anyone flying these? Which would you recommend? I personally think I like the RP3 LED indicator best, and I was going to ask ZAC or Ray Allen if I could swap out my sealed up RP2. I ordered my elevator & aileron trim kits at different times, so I got one of each. I sent an email to the Ray Allen folks explaining the situation and that I'd like the indicators to match. They gave me my choice of which to replace and did it with no fuss whatsoever. I did include a copy of their email to help the process. On a semi-related note, LED's do wash out in the daylight. Which is why I plan to put my trim indicators near the glare shield, though probably not in my eye line while flying. As far as I can tell, the indicators are most useful on setting trim for takeoff. While in flight, the indicators are irrelevant as stick pressures dictates trim usage. Just my 2 cents worth, (actual value may be far less) Kevin Kinney

--> Zenith-List message posted by: Michel Therrien <mtherr@yahoo.com> For the FAA, I don't know. For the seats, I went to Canadian Tire and purchased some neutral color lawn chair cushions that were of a good dimension (they are beige). There is an opening in the back where I inserted a 3/16 plywood. My mother in law moditifed the cushion so they fit better (follow the shape of the fuselage cut with the centerwing). Total cost.... 60$CDN + our great 15.5% tax. Of course, there are more fancy ways of doing this. One of my friend mentioned that the tissue is not fire resistant... probable. However, I feel that the minute there is enough heat to ignite whatever is under my butt in that cockpit, I'll be already in a very bad shape! Is there a treatment we can apply to tissue to make it fire retardant? --> Zenith-List message posted by: Stephen Adams <dr_steve_adams@yahoo.com> Hello. I began the tail kit for the CH640 on April 1st. The rudder is complete, and the stabilator will be done this week. I ordered the remainder of the kit as a quickbuild and I wondered if anyone else out there is working on a quickbuild kit. If so, have you been satisfied with the quality of their construction and the kit in general? Thanks. __________________________________ http://hotjobs.sweepstakes.yahoo.com/careermakeover

My seat backs are made of thin plywood (3/16" I think). I attached a peice of aluminum angle to to them and bent it to fit over the top edge of the baggage shelf frame. They just sit there held in place by the weight of the seat cushion and occupant. The shoulder harness passes through a notch cut in the upper outside corner. My seats are each a one piece cushion made of three layers of confor-foam covered with upholstery. They have a couple of Velcro strips sewn in to hold them in place in the seat pan. --> Zenith-List message posted by: "Ronnie Koonce" <rlk@granderiver.net> No other problems on 701. 175 hours so far. If we land and shut down for 10 to 15 minutes, engine is very hard to start, refusing to at all sometimes. After a cool down of 30 mins or so, no problem. I took great pains to avoid potential vapor locks when routing my fuel lines. All have fire sleeves and avoid the exhaust. no loops. Any ideas? At all? Could fuel be percolating out of the carb bowls? My water and oil temps have been normal. Ambient day temps here have been 90 or so. What temp does gasoline boil at? Using mogas. Any ideas appreciated.
