Hi Leo,
Sounds like you have solved your own problem. I'ld always go with an
electrical solution rather than a mechanical one. If either your coolant or
oil leaked or bled out from your extra connections you would have SERIOUS
problems. A failed relay would be a hinderance, but not a show stopper.
I bought a pressure switch at Sun n Fun for the same purpose and ended up
just connecting the hobbs to the alternator switch. I won't fly much
without the alternator so it should be pretty accurate.
Good luck

Subject: | Stratus Bing Carb Cable Hookup |
--> Zenith-List message posted by: Andrew SanClemente <ansancle@townisp.com>
When hooking the cable into the Stratus Bing Carbs, I was wondering
how people are securing the black sleeve that the cable runs through
at the Carb?
I noticed in Zeniths instructions to use a piece of 1/4 tube to help
secure this (Not sure how though). Currently my sleeves are just
resting inside of that little attach point above where the cable is
secured. All help appreciated,
Thanks
Andrew

From all I can pull from the digest, this combo will work for a 701: Suzuki 1.3L
4 cyl 8 valve engine with redrive from Cleo or Raven and engine mount from
Raven. Fraction of the price of a 912. Is anybody flying this setup?
Thanks in advance,
Rick

A question for all of you who use aileron trim. Do
you ending up using both left and right trim? or Do
you primarily use just one side. I am looking at
using a trim system that has just .5 inches instead of
the .7 inches specified by the plans for the XL. I
was wondering if all that travel could be used in one
direction (going from neutral to full in one direction
only)
Anyone have any thoughts to share on this? Thanks
for your assistance.

Leo,
Sounds like a great solution. I've been thinking about the pressure sensor
to control the hobbs and override the aux fuel pump in the case of a crash.
I have the GRT EIS-6000 with analogue oil pressure sensor so I'd have to
fork out to get another pressure switch and then add complexity to install
it. (Adding complexity is always a bad idea in my book, ranks right up there
with adding money).
Is there anything trick about the flashing LED? Does it just sub for the
normal idiot light? Sounds like it doubles as a Master switch warning as
well.
With due respect to Bryan's suggestion about a specialized double throw
pressure switch from an alphabet company, why not take the idea one step
further and simply add a $1.85 automotive relay to get SPDT operation from
the standard SPST pressure switch?

Subject: | Rotax 912 - Manifold Pressure |
--> Zenith-List message posted by: "Thilo Kind" <thilo.kind@gmx.net>
Hi everybody,
after some time of trying to figure out, why my Rotax 912 wouldn't start anymore
I got it running again. Problems have been a bad battery (RPM below 300, thus
no ignition) and an out of sync choke on both carburetors.
With the Rotax running again I was able to fly my CH 601 HDS for the first time
with the new Woodcomp SR 3000 inflight adjustable propeller. Don't have enough
data yet, but speed increased. I saw 120 mph at approx. 75 % power. Will report
more details in a few days.
Anyway, after the first flight with an inflight adjustable propeller I have some
questions:
- How do you guys with in-flight adjustable propellers determine pitch and power
settings? Do you use manifold pressure?
- I have the EIS 2000 from Grand Rapids with one channel still available. Talked
to Greg from Grand Rapids during Sun'n Fun. Grand Rapids sells the manifold
pressure for the 912, but the price is somewhat steep. Does anybody use the EIS
2000 with manifold pressure sensor? What sensor is being used? What are the
settings for the Aux channel of the EIS 2000?
Thanks
Thilo Kind

David,
I have aileron trim on the stbd side far enough out to clear the prop wash.
Mine is the 7 inches and needs about one third of its' travel to compensate
for a 200 lb passenger.
I've always thought that if the aileron cables came loose, I could use the
trim to get home. The extra leverage could do that.
You don't want to have the trim tab normally going too far one way or the
other, as beyond a certain point it does create drag with lesser trim
result. If you make it too small you could reach that point.

Subject: | stabilizer FTT reinforcement rib |
--> Zenith-List message posted by: "Danny Dubois" <danny.dubois@sympatico.ca>
Hi to all of you.
I'm building from plan, and I just did the fibreglass tail tips of the
stabilizer like the article of Scott Laughlin in Kit Planes.
Did like the experience but I'm not having fun doing fibreglass...
I want to know the thickness of the reinforcement rib in the kit or what did
you use for it .
I did make my form and one rib with a small piece left over with .016 but I
feel not comfortable using that.
So do it is .016 inches or .025 inches
Thank you in advance
