Thank you very much for your reply. Yes, I would very much like a picture of you setup. I can not reply to your address "jreuschle@mindspring.com" Something to do with my server. So I must reply to the list for this one. Sorry list members. Look forward to see your setup. Best regards, Johann G. Iceland. I have a handle that pivots foreward to deploy the flaperons. It slides along a vertical plate which is mounted to the cabin floor. This plate or sheet has notches in it for various degrees setting. The locking part of the handle is spring loaded such that if you lift up on it with two fingers, you release the handle and can slide the handle foreward or backwards to the next notch of flaps and then release the locking portion.. I could send you a digital picture if that would help. See www.CH701.com and click on the picture on the front page. Thanks Larry! Cold Rolled Electric Welded tube is normally made from soft steel, usually 1018. 4130 is what they call aircraft tubing. It is made in a similar manner but out of a completely different material. Never substitute the two. Well you could sub 4130 for 1018 but not the other way. My reasons for this are twofold; the first one is if it leaks I won't lose a half of tank of fuel, and secondly, the sensor will be replaceable without having to tear the wing apart to remove the fuel tank. As for the clearance problem, I am going to rivet on a slightly domed circular access cover. I have already modified the sending unit and it just barely will clear but I feel the domed cover will be a bit of extra insurance. Has anyone run across a domed cover like this anywhere? I don't know why Zehith doesn't do it. Take a piece of thin aluminum pipe that is bigger than the sender. Cut it to about .5 to.75 in.long, weld a cap on one end to mount the sender on. Then cut a hole in the top of your tank and drop it in and weld it. Now the top of your sender sets flush with the top of your tank.
