--> Zenith-List message posted by: "Mark Stauffer" <mark.stauffer@comcast.net> Jack, Please send me a set of pictures. Well, one wing is in the wing stand and I'm starting the rebuild of the left wing. I only lost about 10-12 hours of work. I drilled out all of the rivets and kept the spar, nose ribs, wing walk stiffeners, and aileron bell crank support and channel. I've already drilled and clecoed the ribs to the spar and rear channel and primed them this morning. I should be working on the top skin by tomorrow night. I'm still waiting on the tanks from Zenith. They told me (after I sent mine back) that it would be end of summer before I got the new tanks. Well, if I'm finished with the second wing then I'll just move on to the rest of the fuselage. Happy building! I have posted pictures on my website but since too many folks can't view it at once you may not get in. If you can't see them I will email the pics to you. I would like to know what you think or if any changes should be made. jack Jack Russell -Clovis CA 601 XL Jabiru 3300 Progress update at: http://www.geocities.com/clojan@sbcglobal.net/zodiacbarn.html

--> Zenith-List message posted by: "Jim Frisby" <n801za@hotmail.com> Phil, The fuel pressure sending unit is right at the carb, seems like if tank vent or other restrictions were present,it would show low reading, it has held constant at 6-7 psi during the misfiring events. Trampas, Thanks for the suggestion, I have a manifold pressure gauge hooked in to the inductions system. When/if I have it happen again, I'll take note of the readings on the MP. Subject: Next problem - my starter bearing came out of the seat -
Jabiru 3300. --> Zenith-List message posted by: xl <xl@prosody.org> Has anyone had this happen? This may be my 3rd uncommon failure with my 601XL + Jabiru 3300. First front wheel bearings at 20 hours. Then a muffler at 63 hours and 70 hours. Now at 70.5 hours a starter failure (the stock Bosch one) - ha - at least I *know* it wasn't my fault this time - or was it... :) . Yesterday I installed a pair of SuperTrapp mufflers and wanted to flight test them. But the starter would not turn the engine over. one-eighth to 1/4 turn is all it would do. So, I charged the battery overnight to rule it out. My alternator works fine - but... Still the same with a verified fully charged battery. I took the starter apart and found that the main bearing at the gear end was out of the seat. When the starter turned, the shaft cocked and jammed the starter - a good way to destroy the starter. I managed to get the bearing back in by holding a screwdriver against the bearing and tapping the housing. There is no straight forward access to the bearing. It was that or pull the gear off the shaft and then try to get it back on securely. I plan to check that bearing every 50 hours. Joe N633Z @ BFI 72 hours P.S. The SuperTrapps seem to work fine.
