(I plan on using the same basic setup as the elevator trim - mac servo / pushrod / hinge) I thought I read that rib #8 was the correct location, this is about halfway down the aileron, sound about right? And just to confirm for my own sanity, I want the trim tab to move in the SAME direction that I want the wing to go. So if I want the left wing down (trim on left wing), the trim tab should go down, forcing the aileron up, thereby forcing the left wing down. Sound about right or completely confusing? You've got the movement correct. Check my site at the completions page, see rear view of the HDS, left wing, left side elevator. I am going to be going with .063 extruded angle for the rear longerons. I haven't sent the drawing to Shris for his OK yet but you could do that. Bending up .040 over that length is a bit of a problem for us scratchbuilders. I used the flycutter in the drill press and was hapy with all my holes. You may want to try a different type of flycutter. There are a variety of styles. Good luck David PAULROD36@msn.com wrote: --> Zenith-List message posted by: Now that I am scratch-building the 601XL's fuselage, I could use some consensus on cutting holes. I did all the holes in the wings and tail with a brace and bit and a fly cutter, and did not enjoy either the process or the result. I've tried the fly cutter in brace and bit, fly cutter in drill press, even cut circumferential holes and snipped out between, using a file for the final edge. Is there an easier/faster/slicker way, or am I doomed to spending half an hour and almost all my vocabulary, in several languages, while I thrash my way through this? While I'm at it, has anybody done the four rear longerons in sections, as opposed to trying to find an 8-foot brake? The longerons overlap my homemade 6-footer, and I'm at a standstill on them pending finding an 8-foot brake. Thanks in advance for any advice. I placed it evenly between the third and fourth aileron ribs from inboard. I think about the same place as Larry. Unfortunately, the ailerons aren't as big as the XL, so they have to be external. -At least with the supplied servo system.
