Chuck, I have not been able to locate the plans reference for the 701 tire
inflation info.
Can you please list the print or page number?
Thanks, Jerry 701 SP in work

List:
I am curious as to the status of the CH 601 HDS. Is it Sport-Pilot
eligible? The possible sport-pilot eligible aircraft list says only
Zodiac CH 601 without referring to either HD or HDS.
Actually I am more than curious. I was advised not to send in my 3d
Class request this year until certain conditions were met so I do not
have a medical at present although I do anticipate that I will be
getting it in the near future.
It would be nice to start flying again on 1 September with my driver's
license.

it shows the graphic, but no psi number.
On Page 23 of 26:

it says see graphic but the graphic is missing.

Stan,
The bare HDS stalls a tad faster than the new limits of the Sport Pilot
category,
something like 2-3 mph. There was a question of the use of VGs on the
leading
edge of the wing to pick up the difference. Chris has seen these and was
impressed
that they work on an HD, but didn't comment as to application to SP rules.
Would be interesting to ask Nick if VGs could be considered an option to
comply
with SP if enough data proved them valid and a sheet describing their use,
size location,
etc, was put together.

This was in the recent online EAA newsletter:
Q & A:
Question of the Week
Question for EAA
Aviation Information
Services:
The Ercoupe C/D was
certified at a gross weight of
1260 lbs, thereby meeting
the weight limit for LSA. I
know of a C/D which had its
gross weight upped to 1400
lbs, with a proper Form 337,
after some approved mods
like a 100hp Continental.
The airplane is still a C/D,
though. Can it be used as a
Sport Pilot-eligible plane?
Answer
The FAA definition of a
light-sport aircraft (LSA)
that will appear in 14 CFR
1.1 will include language
prohibiting any aircraft that
has not originally and
continually met the
definition of a LSA to be
eligible for operation by a
sport pilot, even if it is later
modified to fall within the
LSA definition.
This being the case, the
aircraft that you refer to
would not be eligible for
operation by a sport pilot,
even though it originally
may have met the LSA
definition. The fact that it
was modified in such a way
as to fall outside the LSA
definition makes it
ineligible.
Doesn't look good.
