Hello list members.
I looked at the link I received from John W, and the sensor I am referring
to is located next to the oil pressure sensor, and it is plugged with a
bolt # 36 in the manual drawing. The sensor I have, has two contacts and a
little larger than the oil temp sensor,(which BTW I now know where it is).
If anyone can tell me what this sensor is for, I would appreciate it. If
it is something I could do without, I will just plug the hole with a bolt.
Best regards,
Johann G.

I seem to get wet every time I fly my 801 when it is raining. I am using foam
weather stripping around the doors. Does anyone have a suggestion for a better
method of weather stripping the doors?
I found when I installed thin weather stripping on the bottom access door, some
of the oil canning at low speeds disappeared.

Hello Jon,
Probably is an oil pressure sensitive on/off switch for the hour meter
(Hobbs), I have one installed in my engine. prevents the hour meter
to run when the master in on, until the engine is running and oil
pressure starts the hour meter. I installed with a Y paralel with the
oil prsssure sender.

Hello Gary.
Yes, you are probably guessing correctly. This is the place to put it. Until
anyone suggests something else, we will assume this is the oil pressure
sensitive on/off.
Thank you very much for your advise.

Johann,
Is easy to test: get the sensor off the engine, with your air
compressor presure regulated to about 20 lbs/Sqr inch (sp?) aply air
presure while you have an ohm meter or test lamp in the poles, they
should light when pressure is applied, If I remember correct will
conect at about 8 lbs... so 20 is a good number, oil pressure max is
about 60...

Hello, List,
I believe it was one of the Canadian Mikes who always used to sign of from
his Zenith-List postings with "UHS Spinners". If he is still monitoring this
list, would he please contact me off-list (phadr1@yahoo.com). Thank you.

Subject: | Rotax proposed AD |
--> Zenith-List message posted by: "Dave Alberti" <daberti@execpc.com>
All this may be a bag of wind. Rotax started fishing for solution to air in
the oil galleys about a year ago. What was finally found (and presented at
Oshkosh) is that the oil companies changed the formulation of the
recommended oils, and the inverse crankcase pressure system, used to return
the oil to the tank, would foam the oil to the point that a lot of air was
pulled into the normally pressurized side of the system. The excessive
amount of air allows the lifters to collapse, and then you get bent pushrods
and a general lack of lubrication. Rotax released new specifics as to oil
brands and their usage with autogas and avgas. They recommend only draining
the oil tank at oil change and not worry about the small amount left in the
oil cooler and related oil lines.
*****I'm hoping that those that are flying behind a 912/914 Rotax engine (or
are
planning to) have heard about this already, but just in case (and since I
don't remember this coming up on this list before), you might want to look
at the revised AD they're planning to issue. This is particularly important
if you bought your engine (and have it sitting in a crate) prior to
2002-21-16 being complied with. Anyway, take a look at:

During your test flying, you are supposed to generate all of the POH numbers based
on your testing. Your numbers may or may not agree with what the factory says
you should get. All of the numbers in my POH were generated by me during my
40 hour test period.

I've found the Yamaha part numbers in the archives for the bellows that some
of the 801 guys are using. Have any 601 builders tried these? Is there
enough room left to right?
For the 801 guys, what are you doing on the engine side? What does the
finished product look like?
Thanks for any help you can provide.
