Mornin 701 builders,
Somewhere I heard the CZ made 701 takes 3 extra ribs per wing, apparently inproves
cruise speed?
Looking at the wing skeleton I can see where they can be added.
Is there any truth in this? If necessary Chris would have done this?

Good morning. An admittedly dumb question about the side-tilt canopy on a 601...
What keeps it from sliding back due to loads from the airstream? Does it
rest against the bearing blocks?

The side frames have notches through them which the canopy latches close
into. The latches are spring loaded and attached to the inside of the cabin side
walls. The canopy rests in the half-circle notches on top of the bearing
blocks.
Not a very good description, I am sure, but perhaps you can decipher it.

some places in the world the wings are actually longer. this is likely the extra
ribs

I have used a foam brush to apply the clear Cortec on my 701 wings and I
have a mess where it runs through the holes to the opposite side.
Is anyone using a spray gun rather than a brush? Any suggestions on how to
apply this stuff and not make such a mess?

I just finished my left wing and monted the flap to see how it looked.i
ended up with the same
size gap. so at least we are consistent. I don't know if it will make any
difference
in the air

George: When I drilled my flap torsion tube for the control arm I could have set
it to actually move the flaps higher,closing the gap, and having a slight negative
deg flap setting. (Zac calls for neutral but I understand some wings are
set this way for higher speed) It is too late because I drilled the holes with
things set for neutral flap and I am at the upmost travel on the flap motor.
I could cut and shorten the flap actuator assembly to achieve a little more
up. If I was doing it again I would tie the flaps tight to the trailing edge
of the wing and set the worm screw for the max up and then drill (would have been
a heck of a lot easier than the way I did it with all the measuring). This
way I could close the gap a little more with the up limit switch.
