From: Jeffrey A Beachy --> Zenith-List message posted by: Jeffrey A Beachy Thanks to all who gave input to my 912 or 912S question. I also asked Roger D. of ZAC this question, and he said if money wasn't an issue he would go with the 912S engine. His plane has the 912 in it now. ________________________________ Message 4 _____________________________________ Time: 11:08:18 AM PST US From: "Dan Knezacek" Subject: Re: Zenith-List: 6061-t6 in Canada --> Zenith-List message posted by: "Dan Knezacek" Hi Bill, I used Atlas Metals and Alloys in Brampton. (Don't tell them you're using it for a plane. It's either an off-road vehicle or a trailer ;-)) They'll be in the phone book. Sorry I forgot where I put my old rollodex. You could always try 411.ca Dan ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bill Stuart" Subject: Zenith-List: 6061-t6 in Canada > --> Zenith-List message posted by: "Bill Stuart" > > > Hello list. > > I am plans building a 701sp here in Canada , and have run into a prob that > other builders have no doubt had ,i purchased just enough material from > Aircraft Spruce to build the rudder.Their service was excellent except > when > i received my shipment , ups charged me , 22.27 gst , 37.55 ,brokerage fee > and another 2.63 gst on the brok fee,s , needless to say i have learned a > valuable lesson ,(expensive too). > Does anyone in Canada know of a place to buy 6061 ? > > > Regards > > Bill Stuart. > > ch701sp > sn 75664 > just started the rudder , > in no rush ,planning on abt 5years to complete. > > > ________________________________ Message 5 _____________________________________ Time: 02:45:27 PM PST US From: "Mike" Subject: Zenith-List: Airport Closure --> Zenith-List message posted by: "Mike" This is somewhat off topic, sent both to the Zenith & the Corvair lists. It involves a threatened airport closure, so if you're not interested, please delete. I just heard that my home airport (Rialto, California, (Art Scholl Field, L67) may be closed in the near future. It seems that the Rialto City Council is salivating over getting rid of the airport, and replacing it with other development. The reason I'm emailing about this is (1) Last thing we need is another GA airport closure; (2) development could easily co-exist with the airport (I'm a commercial real estate developer myself); 3) There is already a severe shortage of hangars in the southern California area; and (4) I'm hoping someone on these lists has been through this before and has some good advice. Apparently, the FBO operator has already contacted AOPA, and they'll have a representative present at an upcoming public meeting. I also plan to contact the EAA and see if they can help. Has anyone been through this before? Advice? Feel free to email me off list so that everyone doesn't get upset on this OT post. Thanks!
