      Hi Jarek
I looked into Integris out here in Calgary. They used to carry a few sizes
but now only carry .025 in 6061. Edmonton has the extruded angle. Minimum
order of $500. They have lots of 2024 as they supply the aircraft industry.
really expensive on the 2024. I also looked into buying from Yard Metals in
the US. Their cost is per pound. Will ship and have every size. Prices I got
were good I thought even with the exchange. I plan on placing an order as
soon as the holidays are over.

      Bob,

I planned on using one of these in my airplane until I played w/ it at sun
n fun. What a disappointment. The screen was very slow to reload. The movement
through all of the menus was not very intuitive. It was like I had to push
a million buttons just to go direct. You may disagree, and it may work well
for you, so maybe you should try one before you buy.
For about the same price you could buy a brand new color gps like the lowrance
2000c. It has a big 5" color screen, and will soon include a terrain database.
It is only $1000. Check out my website and click on the possible gps's
on the homepage. Keep in mind I have never used these gps's myself, but we are
nearing the time to test these gps's. So soon I will have personal experience
      w/ these.

Bob: I am just about ready to cut the first hole in my panel. I just bought the
lowrance 2000c air map which will take up residence in the center of my panel.
What an inprovement over my old garmin89. The screen is color and huge! When
I first turned it on, it found itself in less than 1minute. I love the split
      map feature.
I was a little worried about the depth of the unit on my panel but the way they
designed the case I will be able to build it into the panel and only about 3\4
inch will stick out. It will look like a panel mount. I will post pictures when
done. The only drawback is that it is battery hungry and they only last 2
hrs. Ok for me because I will hard wire 12v but could be a problem for a renter.

      Folks,

Seems to me that all of the ebay announcements are beyond the intended scope
of this list. I hope that announcements of tygo tubing, pitot heads, brake
      calipers, etc. are not forthcoming...

David, a reminder: UPS fees (brokerage and / or whatever else) are a rip-off.
You might want to give them (or whatever transportation co. you use) a call before
      ordering.
Your supplier in the US is not necessarily aware of these fees.

Don't know if this info might be useful, but if you do use UPS going to
Canada, it's often more cost effective to use expedited or express, rather
than ground service. Expedited and express both have the brokerage fees
built in, as opposed to UPS nailing you extra when you use ground. You'll
still pay the actual taxes, but you'll know that there won't be additional
fees for brokerage. Just a thought.

I bought the Lowrance airmap 1000 a few months
ago, and I like it a lot. It is the same unit as the
2000c, but B&W. -Very easy to use, and I got it on
sale for $650. I plan to panel mount it next to the
Stratomaster Ultra. The support software leaves a
little to be desired, but works fine for simple flight

I have decided to sell my almost completed 701SP kit. I bought the kit on Jan.31,
2003 at the factory workshop. I have about 1000 hrs. work in it already and
because of other committments that have come up lately won't be able to dedicate
the necessary time needed to finish it. I have really enjoyed working on
it have proceed at a slow and carefull pace and I believe, good workmanship.
So it's in my garage/workshop and the wife is wanting the garage back for our
cars. All of the major parts are done. The tailfeathers with electric trim, both
wings with strobe/nav, flaperons, rear fuselage, cabin area and firewall are
all completed. Left to finish is joining the cabin to the rear fuselage and
putting in the main landing gear and also the slats need to be built. I went
ahead and bought the motor mount for 912s to use while building the firewall.
I also have already installed a BRS chute in the baggage compartment. I will consider
delivering up to about 800 miles from Atlanta
, Georgia. I paid $14,091.05 for the complete Kit, $493.00 for the motor mount,
$3,361.43 for the BRS chute, and $998.17 for misc. tools, rivets, access plates,
wiring, extra L angles, etc.etc. Zenith air riveter and tools included along
with builders log with photos during construction. Also included are bound copies
of Zenair News from 1985-Present. I have $18,943.65 ++ in the project.
Make an offer. I plan on putting an ad in my local EAA 690 Chapter newsletter
and also in Barnstormers and maybe E-Bay later. Can anybody suggest any other
places I could list it for sale?

      Hi Carlos
I did check into shipping from a company in Edmonton. Told them where it was
and said it was probably a 4x12 pallet. They told me it would be $160USD to
bring it up here. Not sure about all the other junk, brokerage fees, duty,
etc. How can a guy find out all of this. Maybe someone on the list has done
this and can let us know. I'd maybe like to find out before I place the
order and then find out it will cost a fortune to get it here.

Another thought would be to get one of the US builders that are close to the
Alberta border to have the shipment sent to his place. I would then take a
drive to get it. We could re-wrap it or something and then bring it across
as used metal. Not sure if this would work or not.

I would like to ask if a 601 kit builder would mind spending a bit of
time and doing an Inventory of there hardware kit that they get with the
plane and sending me a copy of the inventory list so that I may add it
to the www.ch601.org website to help all of the plans builders. I
already have a materials and cutting list. It is almost an impossible
task to make up a hardware list by going through the plans alone.

For you 701 builders does anyone have a cutting list for materials?

      Thanks
