That means Skyshop no longer offers builder assistance or quick built kits for Zenith products. (Contact Zenith Aircraft Co. for any questions.) We still offer accessories for Zenair aircraft builders (floats, upholstery kit, firewall forward packages and more see our web site). Additionally we are here to support all of our existing customers. Besides the very popular Mermaid amphibian Skyshop, Czech Aircraft Works and our design team have to offer new aircraft coming to the market very soon. Thank you for all your support as we move forward. I asked C.H. many years ago if he would ever design a long set of wings for the 601 that could be used for gliding. He sidestepped the question, referring to the fact that some pilots have found that the 701 can do 'thermal flying' relatively well due to its ability to lock onto fairly small updrafts (i.e. it's SLOW! ;-)... Matevz Lenarcic recently completed his around the world flight in a motor-glider manufactured in his home country of Slovenia (after being shutdown by beauracracy on his earlier attempt in a Zenair 701). The company produces 3 versions from 'mostly glider' to 'mostly cruiser' -- this third 'mostly cruiser' model uses a Rotax 912, cruises at 110kts, and equipped with the extra fuel tanks Lenarcic used, had an endurance of over 10 hours - without updrafts! He actually managed the leg from Greenland to Scotland, bypassing Iceland! I'm not connected with Pipestral in any way -- only an admirer of their aircraft! http://www.airventure.org/2004/monaug2/motorglider.html (a writeup from his visit to Oshkosh last summer) do not archive ________________________________ Message 5 _____________________________________ Time: 06:19:45 AM PST US From: "Larry Martin" Subject: Re: Zenith-List: Inspection when and how often --> Zenith-List message posted by: "Larry Martin" Yes there is a three part Visit report the Counselor fills out for you to sign. One copy goes to the EAA, one for you and one for the Counselors records. The Counselor has to accumulate points over a two year period in order to remain a counselor. I don't remember exactly how many, but I think it is 8. He gets 4 point per visit. The purpose is to keep active counselors active. There is no other incentive other than self satisfaction. The secret to the Zenith Instructions is learning to read the drawings. The instructions themselves are somewhat confusing. The pictures are not taken in the correct sequences and it confuses the heck out of you. However, they are wonderful compared to PegaStol or RAF. Take care and if I can help you, please ask.
