However, due to the position of the main Z channel on the firewall (the one that supports the front gear), there is no way I can find to make it work. Here is a picture of the engine hung without the prop governor: http://www.agstore.net/propgovprob.jpg Therfore, I am looking at other options. My first instinct is to eliminate the governor on the engine that I have and just put a fixed pitch prop on the O-360A1A. Is there any reason that I cannot do this? The A1A has a hollow crank. Yes, I do understand the urge to get home quick when you have been flying around the world and grounded and treated badly by the Russians. No pun intended, but they do not seem to understand that some people like to have fun in life. I recommend the airliner way to visit. The other method is too risky because of the cold ocean between us. Anyone on the list who will visit will get the private welcome treatment, and a Zenith 701 flight weather permitting. The aircraft stalled at about 52 mph CAS under similar conditions. This is consistent with the solo 48 mph and 54 mph dual advertised by Zenith. Stan ________________________________ Message 10 ____________________________________ Time: 01:11:33 PM PST US From: Stanley Challgren Subject: Zenith-List: 601 HDS Installation --> Zenith-List message posted by: Stanley Challgren Leo: I did not do a precise cruise speed check yesterday but did go right up to 140 IAS right after level off at 6500'. I did not do a CAS for the WOT but if the IAS minus 7.5 mph figure at 60 mph holds the cruise would be about 132. So, objectively I do not yet have an answer. Subjectively, I believe there was very little impact but if there was any, it may have been positive. I will report more thoroughly as we continue the evaluation flights and additional VG installation. My understanding was that the Danish aviation autohorities did not permit the crossing flight from Canada to Iceland, because of their search and resque responsibilities over and around Greenland. Maybe it was the question about the price of an insurance for the search and resque service. So Matevz had to leave the Z701 in Canada, where he tried to sell it insted of transporting it all the way to Slovenia. I do not know how that ended. There must be some difference between the Zenith 701 and the motorglider Matevz flew across the atlantic. Hope this helped. Johann G.
