Check for degaussing or compass or magnetism in the archives. I think this
has come up before and it was suggested that we could borrow a 'big'
degausser unit from a T.V. shop and it might do the job... BUT as I write
that, I also recall that there may have been some other possibilities of
demagnetizing other things you wouldn't want to demagnetize .... not sure
what ... radio components? gauges?.... anyways, try the archives.

Given the fact that many in this group are at Sun & Fun this wekk I'll post
this next week as well.
If you're interested in participating in a group insurance scheme, send me a
note and I'll put your name on a list.
Once I get a sizable list together I'll approach a few of the big
underwriters to see if they're interested in writing a group policy.

What we have found out so far, is that here, the insurance companies have their
own "numbers" and statistics of risk (this give them the "value" of the insurance
costs), if t hey dont have precise statistics and facts they have a extra
porcentage of risk rate, here is where we come in as a group.
Also, as any bussiness, they have volume discount rates for fleets in companies
, charitable groups, non profit clubs and organizations, etc...
We have also found out that homebuilts and kit planes have a less risk of accident
over factory builts, once they have gone through the test time and first flight,
some planes have more risk, mostly in landing events, this because they
are fast planes and the builder looses proficiency while building.
The good part is that the Zenith planes have the less rate of accident per units
flying and only one structural failure in 30 plus years...
Hope this helps.
Saludos

Seeing as how Canada is a huge producer of aluminum, I did not think this
would be a problem. Does ANYONE on the list know where I can get 3/4 x 3/4 x
.062 6061 T6 extrusion in Ontario, to use on my 701. Plenty of 6063 etc etc
up here but 6061 T6 ????
Thanks as always, Peter

Dear Gurus:
I finally got started on the horizontal stab kit that was delivered last Friday.
Page 1 of 10 (Rev. 2.4-2/28/05) says to check rivet lines/holes, etc. The
"6T2-2 Double" states that there should be 3 holes pre-drilled at this location.
My stab actually has 5 drilled at this location. Is this a problem????
I'm guessing it's not a big deal, but I want to make sure it will not lead to structural
problems in the future.
Thanks in advance!

Hi Peter:
I assume you are talking about extruded angle. Here in the States we have to cut
and bend .063 sheet or just use the 1/8" X 1/8" 6061-T6. I chose to use the
1/8" angle on my 601XL. It's very strong and adds very little weight. You
should be able to find 1/8" angle by the boatload in Canada.
Good luck,

Peter, I had good luck finding aluminum sheets in 16 and 25 thou from
Golden Triangle Specialty Metals in Cambridge Ontario. Not sure about
the extrusion you're needing but they sure had just about anything in
T6 down there.
Give them a call at 519 623-5500

Forest,
6T2-2 should have 3 holes, while 6T2-1 has 5. Both take A5 rivets. If your
spar is drilled with 5 each, check with ZAC, but I don't see why not put in
5 each.
