look. Word, Excel, and Front Page are easier. I have found that my web page
is a better record and the other resources are just as available on the web.
There is another solution in the make. I am writing a similar program
because I wanted onethat does everything that I want in a program,
althoug uploading to the web is not something I had wanted to do from
within a program like that I have still included it.
As of yet I have no date, probably November/December release. It will
be shareware, I'm looking at around U$ 12-20.00 as the fee, with
lifetime upgrades and bugfixes.

Sorry to be late in reply but have been away.
The Zenith construction manual for the CH601XL, and it looks as though it's the same manual for the HD, states that the Avex rivets are 1682-0412 (1/8") and 1682-0514 (5/32"). The Textron catalogue for the UK gives the Avex rivets as 01604 prefix ie 01604-00412 and 01604-00514 respectively www.avdel.textron.com. I spoke earlier this year with Textron at Welwyn Garden City and they advised that the 1682 prefix was an American supply the only difference was the mandrel with was zinc plate passivated (now frowned upon) being replaced with zinc coated wire. The shear and tension loads being the same. In any event rivets to be UK manufacture but check with your PFA inspector before buying, Zygology are good source.
I have a Warrior based at Goodwood and share a hanger with Alan Cousens who I met
with on Sunday. Alan built a 601HD some years ago and was featured in Popular
Flying. He has just replaced his wings with the HDS type (scratch built)
and it is a very impressive installation. Alan has mods signed off for forward
hinging canopy, increased span empennage, lengthened fuselage and his own brand
of dual sticks. I mentioned availability of details and Alan is quite prepared
to send copies of drawings if you would like to contact him do so thought
he PFA office. Alternatively the XL canopy arrangements could be used, CZAW
will advise.
Hope this is of help but feel free to call me, I'm home most evenings, e-mail me
and I will forward phone no.

I have just started to build a 601HD from plans and have been told by
various people that I should extend the nose, increase the span pf the
tailplane ( stabiliser ) and go for a forward opening canopy. I have decided
that all of thes really would make it a better aeroplane I only have one
problem. The plans from ZAC only have the basic aircraft and I cannot find
anyone who has detailed information and drawings. If anyone has anything
that might help me I would be forever in debt.
does anyone know what length A4 and A5 Avex rivets are required.

I started off to develop my own a few years back, but purchased KitLog and
I've been relatively happy with it since I started using it, it meets my
needs sufficiently. Admittedly, Ii is a little awkward in some spots to
use. I was hoping the upgrade, when it becomes available, addresses those.
Different strokes I guess.
For a couple of years now, I've used KitLog in conjunction with a second
product, Aurelia Reporter (http://www.aureliasystems.com) to publish my
(slow moving) log to the web. Aurelia will work with any of the methods
described in this thread, since it acts as a print driver and produces a web
version of a printed document. The trial is free for 30 days, but I use it
for things other than my log, so I purchased a copy.
If you want to see the results, go to http://www.hodges.info and click on
the Construction Log (ignore the "Table of Contents" frame on the left, that
was a finger-fault on my part that I need to fix!)
As an aside, if you are interested in digital photography, look at my photos
from 2005 Sun and Fun. There are two photos (Zenith flight line, well what
was left of it by Saturday morning, and Military Flight Line) that are
composite shots put together with http://www.autostitch.com. The Zenith one
is a 5 photo composite, and the Military one is an 8 photo composite. They
were taken freehand (no tripod), and came out relatively well. There's a
little ghosting in the military one where folks moved between frames. I was
pretty amazed at what a great job it did putting these together with no help
from me.

Subject: | Rudder trim on 701, nose wheel shimmy |
--> Zenith-List message posted by: "Tom and Joyce Schulke" <classpix@sbcglobal.net>
I'm new to the zenith list. I recently bought a STOL 701 that had been flown about
3 hours. I've spent lots of time going over the aircraft and only found a
few minor problems. My 701 has a 912ULS and warp drive 70" 3 blade. And seems
to be build according to plans. I have personally put on 2 hours and 10 take
offs. Fly's good but I'll have to get used to the pitch changes on landing. I
have 2 little problems. First I need to hold a bit of left rudder at all times.
I may have to put on a trim tab but do not want to if anyone can give me a different
idea. Second The nose wheel shimmies when I set the wheel down on landing.
When I first inspected my 701 (Which I named "The Odd Duck" even found
some cool duck decals!) I saw that the right steering shaft was slightly bent.
I straightened it and things got better but the shimmy is not totally gone.
Put on a new tire....no change. It mite be that I am landing to fast and need
to slow it down more. I'll try that after flying "The Odd Duck" more. I am
going to put it on Czech 1200 Amphibs in the fall....they are on order. Thanks:

Has anyone on the list found lighter, more streamlined fairings that can be
fitted to the 601XL tri-gear? Has anyone successfully used RV fairings?
I'm not looking to make my own - just wondering if there are any better
options available before I would order from ZAC.
