Yes, I know, fiberglass parts is not the strong part of ZAC factory, I supose that this parts are made by third persons, for them... Well. What I will sugest to do as a simple and good solution is: Attach the parts to the slat the best you can, then buy some microballons and (using a mouth and nose filter) make a putty with resin. The mcroballons is like talc but very VERY light. with this homemade putty, fill all the gaps and once is dried, sand up to form the parts contour. Important Note : The microballons are not poison, but they are some kind of plastic or glass talc material... The use of the filter over the nose and mouth is because this material is no degradable, this means that all the material in your lungs will over last you... Anyone of us will die with that talc inside the lungs they degrade in 1,000 years or more. Just this. Saludos Gary Gower. Tebenkof@aol.com wrote: --> Zenith-List message posted by: Tebenkof@aol.com Rick, I had similar experience with several of the fiberglass parts, particularly the slat ends. IMHO this is the one area where ZAC does not do as well as they might. Nor have they been particularly forthcoming with solutions. I believe I saw a photo (don't remember where) of a solution in the form of cutting the end of the slat into tabs which can then be bent in to match the fieberglass part. That seems extreme, but maybe not. Others have talked about making their own FG parts. I would certainly be interested if you find a good solution, from ZAC or otherwise. But rest assured, you are not the only one. Maybe the www.ch701.com web site under homemade tools is a great place to display it.... It'll always be there as a reference to others. He bought the motor already assembled and was told it had the 160 HP pistons {74089} in it. So far the performance is not what is expected, So I have a couple of questions for you guys. First since you cannot determine the comp ratio by the leakdown method has anybody done a compression check using the regular way???? If I could get some readings from both a 150 hp and a 160 hp motor I could tell what pistons are in it without removing the cylinders.. Second this guy seems to think whoever built up this motor "might" have got the cam timed wrong, he thinks it is off by one tooth. I can degree the motor without tearing it down but I need the cam spec for a 150/160 stock cam.... Anyone out there have those ???? Thanks in advance. ________________________________ Message 10 ____________________________________ Time: 07:03:20 AM PST US From: "Larry Martin" Subject: Re: Zenith-List: microballoons --> Zenith-List message posted by: "Larry Martin" You can also consider using Cabosil or cotton flock, both available at AirCraft Spruce or Wicks. Really cheap, $2.30 for a gallon bag. Flock would be best for your application. You would not have the respiratory problem you would have with microballons. Of course a respirator is still a good idea. Cabosil is best for bonding or where structural integrity is required. Flock is best where a fill up is needed and sands fairly easy. None of it sands easy. I think that a volume about a gallon will be enough for all the little parts in the plane, is far less than a pound (soory I dont use american weight system). A friend told me that in USA you can find cans with filler already made with microballons. Dont buy the stuff to repair car dents, this is too heavy and can "crack" with the sun. Sorry I forgot to mention that the resin is epoxy type, handle it with gloves (the trow away ones). Saludos Gary Gower. The photo instructions state to place the channel (6t6-3) flush (to the edge of the cut-out) then drill and cleco, starting with the top of the elevator. But when I do this, aligning the top of the elevator skin to the channel, there is about 2-3mm of skin overhang on the bottom of the elevator. I assume this is going to be acceptable considering that the leading edge of the trim tab is angled back 117 degrees, which would create an in-situ gap seal; but just wanted to verify this before proceeding Thanks List Brad Cohen 5-6803 N969BC (reserved) Do Not Archeive ________________________________ Message 13 ____________________________________ Time: 03:22:21 PM PST US From: "ABGS" Subject: Zenith-List: Plans 601 XL 4 Sale --> Zenith-List message posted by: "ABGS" Hi I have a full of plans including CD and Tail wheel plans for a 601 XL with owership tranfer form included I have ordered a full kit and I get another set of plan with a new serial number cost is $250USD this includes Postage Please email me off list for any further info info@cumminsspiners.com Fly Safe Allan Cummins Spinners www.cumminsspinners.com Do not archive ________________________________ Message 14 ____________________________________ Time: 08:22:04 PM PST US Subject: Re: Zenith-List: Trim tab installation From: Bryan Martin --> Zenith-List message posted by: Bryan Martin That doesn't sound right. I don't remember having any overhang on mine and I don't see any in the photos I have of the the prototype. I think the overhang might interfere with full deflection of the tab. Try turning the channel over the other side up and see how it fits. on 5/26/05 2:34 PM, Brad Cohen at bradfnp@msn.com wrote: > --> Zenith-List message posted by: "Brad Cohen" > > I have a question concerning the cut out for the trim tab; > > I just made the cut-out for the trim tab and I am getting ready to install the > channel 6t6-3. > The photo instructions state to place the channel (6t6-3) flush (to the edge > of the cut-out) then drill and cleco, starting with the top of the elevator. > But when I do this, aligning the top of the elevator skin to the channel, > there is about 2-3mm of skin overhang on the bottom of the elevator. > > I assume this is going to be acceptable considering that the leading edge of > the trim tab is angled back 117 degrees, which would create an in-situ gap > seal; but just wanted to verify this before proceeding > -- Bryan Martin N61BM, CH 601 XL, Stratus Subaru. do not archive. ________________________________ Message 15 ____________________________________ Time: 08:39:30 PM PST US From: "Dave & Darlene" Subject: Re: Zenith-List: Back in the blue... --> Zenith-List message posted by: "Dave & Darlene" You make us all jealous Grant.
