A Diamond came in high and went around. An F16 came in engines hot and flew over at about 200 feet, punched it and climbed into the clouds over SeaTac. I flew over the University of Washington and back to flight test my new fuel filters and ram mods. I was directed to 13L - report Safeco. Abeam Safeco Field an F16 passed me about 2 miles away at 3 o'clock at 1500 feet - my altitude. I kept my eye on it. I heard ATC call out my position to the F16. About 2.5 miles out, the F16 was about 4 miles ahead of me on crosswind, ATC told me that an F16 would be landing parallel. About 2 miles out the F16 was at my 9 o'clock and about 2 miles away. ATC told him I was on a 2 mile final and told me to watch for wake turbulence - the F16 would overtake me on final. I kept my speed up, 120 mph. When I was on a 1 mile final the F16 was on base. About 1/4 mile out I pulled up and slowed to 80 mph. I crossed the threshold, slipping, at about 70. I touched down, looked to my right and there was the F16. I turned off 13L at A4 and watched the F16 continue down 13R. I pulled the cowl, checked things over and headed to Bremerton (PWT). My CHT were about 270F in cruise, best ever. I don't like the new fuel filters. I plan to change them out and go back to metal ones. I did a bunch of very steep turns on the way to PWT and back - wahooooo. My 200 hour engine maintenance is complete - have to fly now :) . I'm not in a hurry. I find the build to be enjoyable aside he occasional goofs. It's good stress relief. I've got the rudder done, and about 50% on the horiz. stab. Something less than 50 hours of work over the last couple of years. But, progress is progress, even if it comes in 5 min increments. I originally had my heart set on a glass aircraft, until I finally figured out that I couldn't carve out hours of contiguous time to do the lay-ups. Went aluminum. After flying the factory demonstrator and experiencing the quality of the kit, I'm quite happy with my choice to do a 601. I have a wonderfully old Tri-pacer that I fly. When I get the Zenith done, I think I'll rebuild the 'pacer. Regards, Larry Portouw Atlanta do not archive >.... Subject: Re: Zenith-List: Throttle attachment --> Zenith-List message posted by: "Johann G." Hello list members. I notice that the attachment I had made for the Vernier throttle rod is something more builder would like to have made. Anyone who is interested, please contact me off list with your name and address, and I will send you the part. I do not know what the cost will be, but I will let you know as soon as possible. I just got the updated drawings and noticed that. I've wondered about the top of the rudder with a triangular "hole" in it. Does it go over or under the rudder skin? Debating whether it's worth drilling/punching out all of the top rivets in the rudder to add this..... Thanks in advance! I am in the same situation you are. The skeleton is complete but the last 2 months have been very busy with "life" things. I will leave off the rudder tip. mike ----- Original Message ----- From: "The Keeners" Subject: Zenith-List: RE: Updated Drawings > --> Zenith-List message posted by: "The Keeners" > > Anyone out there put on the new fiberglass rudder tip (Part 6T4-10)?
