Thanks Frank, I appreciate that. On the "400 hours" that was a slight bun at
the ZAC ad I read when I bought the kit. Really, I stopped counting at 1300
hours almost a year ago. Best regards, Bill

We are very grateful to Zed Smith for his detailed comments. It will take
us a little time to work through his list properly. I have responded to
him and thanked him off the List. We shall let the List know when we make
progress with this problem. One thing I forgot to mention previously. Is
there a possibility that something is "charging up" over a period of time,
and that this can cause a crackling in the head sets? Any further
thoughts/help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Gentlemen I have heard rumours that Dave Austin, Canadian 601 builder/flyer and
guru to this list has had the first flight in his Supermarine Spitfire. I have
only seen pictures and she looks to be a stunner. I have had that impression
supported by reports from friends who have seen her. Dave, I know the Spitfire
is OT to this list but I am sure we would all like to hear about your adventures.
Here is hoping. Safe Flying Dave and Congratulations!

Hello all,
Does anyone have any good techniques for testing a fuel tank. I am just about
to install the tank and was wondering a good way to test it before I close up
the wing. I was thinking about just filling it with water but was wondering if
this was smart?
Any suggestions?
Cheers

Attach a balloon to the air vent and inflate the tank to 5psi ( no more
o ryou will blow the welds), leave overnight and check balloon. If it is
still inflated then install your tank, if it is deflated then pump up
the tanks to 5 psi again and dunk in bathtub to find the leak (s).
