Some useful info certainly changes hands here! Unfortunately I don't access it very often however, and then usually wade through a number of the digest versions. Regarding the turn-coordinator noise issue, I've been using a Falcon T/C instrument together with an Icom A200 for about 100 hours now, with no noise problems, so I am not sure there is a fundamental problem either with the instrument or compatibility between the two. Both the T/C and A200 were purchased new about 3 years ago. Just one question: are those who are experiencing problems using the integral A200 intercom facility, or a separate intercom unit? I am using a separate voice-activated Flightcom 403mc intercom in my set-up. The A200's squelch seems to keep everything totally silent in my headset except when receiving / transmitting, so if there is an interference problem I'm not hearing it. Actually, even with the squelch "opened", it seems quiet. For interest, my A200 is mounted under the panel, directly below and only about an inch away from the T/C! I have also not wired the T/C through the same circuit as the radio - it is powered up via the master, through it's own fuse, while the radio is on its own fused avionics circuit together with the GPS power. This may be relevant since it is common for the T/C and radios to be on the same (avionics) circuit. Possibly that is something to look at? Any ideas? //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// I am running the Ivo prop on my 801, In fact I have tried two models. I started with the three blade 84" Magnum paddle series with in flight adjustment. That turned out to be a little on the large size and would limit my takeoff rpm to 3500, next I turned it into a two blade 84" and picked up 400 rpm. The three blade was SOOOO much smoother I then had them send me the regular magnum series blades. That let me rev up to 4300 and wow did that thing accelerate on the takeoff roll. The problem was the paddle series blades have a nice stainless steel leading edge protector and the regular ones just have a foil tape. My plane has so much power that it sucks up rocks and crap and the regular blades are too fragile so I sent back my paddle blades and had them cut down to 78". Now I get 4150 on takeoff, and leading edge protection. Since the 801 is so darn dirty aero ways top cruise is about what ZAC suggests. It would take several solid rocket boosters off the space shuttle to get this thing over 130 mph, and thats with it pointed downhill.. Ha Ha. One thing I have heard from several other people is that Ivo props are not known for max terminal velosity. The blade profile is what I think limits it from being faster then the competitors. It is a great all around prop though. do not archive Ben Haas N801BH www.haaspowerair.com ________________________________ Message 3 _____________________________________ Time: 11:00:28 AM PST US Subject: Zenith-List: N601LE Empty Weight Correction From: charles.long@gm.com 06/24/2005 01:58:42 PM --> Zenith-List message posted by: charles.long@gm.com Many of you caught the fact that my empty weight was higher than the flight weight in my last Email. Just a typo, not sure where my head was at (in the clouds of course!). Empty weight is 640 w/o wheel pants and paint. Was hoping for 600 but knew I wouldn't be anywhere close. My aircraft has forward tilting canopy, two extra cylinders, dual strobes, nav and landing lights, complete VFR panel, nose wheel, heat/def/fresh air vents, beefed up center wing fairings, and many cans of trunk paint coating the inside. I was considering building another set of wings anyway, the paint on this thing is coming off, and the seller included a set of wing tanks which need to be fitted. I understand someone in Sun Valley, ID is building a HDS, which is close to me in Rigby. The engine is a rotax 912ul 80 hp, rocker covers are black. I can make 5400 rpm max, might need less pitch too. I am familiar with the ivo, I have a 2 blade on my challenger II. We had one of the blades on it come out of pitch, the adjuster cam on the inside end of the blade broke. We blame that (unscientifically) for a crack which developed in the crankcase. Nice set of wheel pants. He built a HDS and wishes to obtain a set of HD wings. He has an ad in the Zenith Newsletter that describes them. His phone number is 219-322-6935. Lives in Dyer, IN 46311 (west edge of the state) His wings include strobes, baggage locker left wing, 7-1/2 gal fuel tank right wing, electric trim tab right wing and were inspected by A&E and Technical Counselor. Workmanship is excellent. It may not be terribly close but the drive would be considerably less effort than making another set. Hope this helps, Larry McFarland - 601HDS Tim Egan wrote: >--> Zenith-List message posted by: "Tim Egan" > >Larry, >Yep, good info. The holes in question are for the Double 6T2-2 . According to plans and manual there should only be 3 predrilled holes in the spar for that part. I have 5. From C/L lateral (either direction) I have 5 holes for 6T2-1 (which is correct), another row of 5 holes (the ones in question), then 4 holes for the rib (which is correct.) I have the updated plans and manual 2/05 and it does not mention any changes to this area. Is it acceptable to just use all 5 holes for 6T2-2? Thanks Mike
