The parts provide a 233mm space as per plans, the solution is to drill two additional holes making a 5 hole, 5 hole, 4 hole configuration). Please refer to the attached pdf file. We apologize for the inconvenience, please do not hesitate to contact me if you have additional questions. Has anyone who is now building read either of these books and found them helpful? Is one better than the other? Neither of these titles exactly match my handbooks. I have the "Standard Aircraft Handbook" by Larry Reithmaier, and use it quite a bit. Also, ZAC sent me a copy of the "Aviation Mechanic Handbook," by Dale Crane, with my FWF kit. The two books seems to be very similar. I was about to close it up. Over all it went well and it sure was worth the time. This was the third Zodiac he had inspected. He had some really great suggestions: The worst thing was that I had used RTV to fay seal the aileron bell crank fittings. Thought it was a good idea. It wasn't. The issue is that RTV contains acetic acid which is corrosive to AL. I had the parts primed but after stewing about it I went a head and drilled them out and cleaned the RTV off. It only took about 15 minutes to fix it. Live and learn. He wasn't real happy with the aileron horn. He thought that for such a critical part it should be out of 4130 rather than AL. I am going to change this also. The plans don't call out a washer for attaching the uniball on the pushrods. He suggested an oversized fender washer to capture the uniball. We talked about fuel systems. (always a fun topic on this board) He suggested moving the valve to the bottom of the fuse to keep a pressure head and use an extender bar for the selector. He also recommended using metal tube for the fuel lines inside the cockpit. He also looked at a couple of places where I had installed a doubler after messing up edge distance and was happy. Overall he commented that workmanship was rather good. (WOW) This was well worth the time. I highly recommend this to everyone. Cheers. Andair sells extensions for their (very nice) fuel selector valves. They can be ordered with the valve or as an accessory for an existing valve. www.andair.co.uk -- Craig ________________________________ Message 6 _____________________________________ Time: 06:03:40 PM PST US From: Brandon Tucker Subject: Zenith-List: re:parts and service-bad experience, --> Zenith-List message posted by: Brandon Tucker Zap, You had to realize that you were starting something with that comment... -Not really necessary... Steve, Let's not get carried away with name calling. That is not what this list is about. I am one of the guys that Wheelerizing put on the back burner to complete your project. I dropped mine off sometime in Jan or Feb, I can't remember. They informed me on delivery that it would be 3 months. BTW, I ordered a prop, cowl, dist, motor mount from WW the same week, and still have not been delivered these items... It seems the Corvair numbers are growing, and business booming for the associated products and services. As I said before, let's not all go high and right over one bad experience. I will report back when I pick up my items tomorrow or Tuesday. I have total confidence in Ken and Scott's integrity and workmanship... Respectfully, Brandon Rekindle the Rivalries. Mostly anyway. I would, and did, balance any changes recommended by the TC (and others) with a call to Nick to see if there is a particular reason for something to be a certain way or type before I changed it. Course, in the final go of it all your the guy with his butt in the can. FWIW, Best regards, Bill ________________________________ Message 9 _____________________________________ Time: 07:15:03 PM PST US From: "Jeffrey Glasserow" Subject: Zenith-List: Re-setting wing incidence clamav-milter version 0.80j on hestia --> Zenith-List message posted by: "Jeffrey Glasserow" I think I had a first today for Zenith, I was honored to have Ken Cameron, a three time Space shuttle astronaut and commander, fly my HDS. The had to the testoilot school at Pax River also flew the plane. They really enjoyed it and did all sorts of test pilot stuff to check it out. They both concurred that the plane flies nose high and needs to have the wings adjusted to raise the leading edge and drop the trailing edge about 3-4 degrees. Now, Help me out here as I wasn't the builder.... Is there a way to adjust the incidence without removing the wings and drilling a new set of holes? I hope, I hope! Can't wait to see the replies on this one!
