The only problem I am having is with my Aviasport tach which wonders above 5000 RPM when hot. I have heard of this problem and researched the archives for a more suitable 2.25 inch tach. Any suggestions on a new brand. I am all but fiddled out. For your info, cruise is 95mph at 5000 rpm which is comfortable. 98 at 5200, 80 at 4500, 85 at 4850. I am using the woodcomp 68" prop set at 12.5 degrees and attribute the good performance to the prop and 912S which is running flawlessly. All speeds gps verified. A great machine. Attaching the meter/counter leads across the sender wires at the back of the indicator on the panel would then count the frequency of the signal sent by the sender, thereby showing you if the sender output is tracking with throttle position and how it compares with your panel-mounted indicator. You might need to interpolate readings, but "tracking" is the object anyway. Possibly another person with a hand-held digital tach might stand out front and check prop rpm during a ground run-up after things are up to operating temperature. This really sounds a lot like a non-linear response in your indicator at the high end. do not archive Zed/701/R912/90% etc ________________________________ Message 3 _____________________________________ Time: 08:51:20 AM PST US From: RURUNY@aol.com Subject: Zenith-List: Re: Rotax Tachometer Problems --> Zenith-List message posted by: RURUNY@aol.com Go here and scroll down a bit. I presume you are using the same tach. Are you having any problems with it. Fram number is PH4967. K&N number is HP1003. The "For Mechanics and Technicians" part of the title is in smaller print. Neither of these titles exactly match my handbooks. I have the "Standard Aircraft Handbook" by Larry Reithmaier, and use it quite a bit. ________________________________ Message 9 _____________________________________ Time: 06:50:07 PM PST US From: RURUNY@aol.com Subject: Zenith-List: Re: Re: Rotax Tachometer Problems --> Zenith-List message posted by: RURUNY@aol.com I'm not flying yet, but that model is in my instrument panel waiting.
