Hi folks,
I have an Micro-1000 Tach bought from Aircraft Spruce (Part No TA150 RND),
made for the Rotax 912. Whenever the RPM exceeds 3,500, the needle of the
tach goes all the way to the stop of the right hand side - indicating more
than 7,000 RPM. I have tried everything without any success: replaced the
tach, re-run the wires (shielded, etc.). I also have the Engine Information
System from Grand Rapids, which takes the RPM reading from the same wire.
The EIS shows the RPM just fine.
I have talked to A/S; obviously, they don't know. I have tried to reach the
manufacturer without success.
The aircraft flies fine; I use the EIS to read the RPM. However, it would be
great, if the tach would work properly as well. Any ideas?
Thanks
Thilo Kind

Thilo,

never able to make it work. Ended up getting a VDO tachometer like I'd

Never found the reason for

Hello list members.
The first flight of my six year project occurred last night around midnight. Yes,
it was bright enough up here in the north.
It was great to experience the feeling of flying something that has been just aluminum
and rivets in my garage for all that time. And all the wait was worth
every 1500 hours of work. It flies straight and feels good in the air.
I filled the D tank only so it had to be trimmed slightly with up elevator trim.
The flight was only a short one, because the propeller needs a little more pitch
and some differences between cht temps. on # 1 and # 3.
Can=B4t wait until the next flight with the minor adjustments done.
I would like to thank all of you on the list for the help and support during the
building process, and to you who are still building. Keep up the good work.
The satisfaction is unreal.
Best wishes,
Johann G.

Congradulations on your first flight. Sounds like it went very well with
only a couple of small issues. Fly carefully and with great fun.

Well folks I92m finally making great progress! I92m currently putting the
tires and tubes on the Matco wheels. I92m looking forward to seeing it
stand
on its own. I bought my wheels from ZAC in August 1999 as part of a Gears
and Wheels component kit. It seems that the current available bolts for
these wheels are AN4s 96 BC inch in diameter 96 per Matco. My wheel
halves
came bolted together but with AN5 bolts. The bolts have a Hex head for an
Allen wrench. The nut is a fiber lock nut. Both are BD inch. The problem
is that I92ve tried many, many sockets, but I can92t get a BD inch socket
into
the recessed hole to grab the lock nut.

Thilo,
The UMA was the type that used a 3-wrap pigtail to sense the ignition
pulses.
The VDO North America programmable Tachometer can be ordered
1-800-752-9763 or 1-937-323-1932. The gage I bought from Zenith, but
you can contact VDO at 1-540-665-2428. I found instructions for
installing the VDO at
http://www.springfieldstreetrods.com/Install-InstructionsTach.htm
Never had any problems since.
Good luck

UMA offers two types of tachs for the 912 series. One is inductive pickup
off the plug (the pickup wraps several turns around one plug wire) and the
other sees the rotor impulses off the tach lead. I had a problem with mine
because it was marked as one type and was actually the other! UMA replaced
the tach and no problems since then.

Subject: | Brake lines 701or 601 |
--> Zenith-List message posted by: RURUNY@aol.com
A couple quick question on brake line routing from the matco master
cylinders.
Did many use strait fittings out of the bottom of the cylinders, and did the
left cylinder line go left and back and the right line go out the right side
and back?
Or, did you use 90 deg fittings and route the lines up and and then to the
side, down and back to give some flex for rudder and brake movement.
I have the peddles where the bottom of the cylinder is attached to the
rudder peddle and not to the floor. This would make the routing of the line a
little more challenging considering that you need a little flex for rudder and
brake movement. It looks like the left line would work fine but the right
cylinder would intefere with the right nose wheel steering rod.
If I did run the lines up and then to the sides, is it a no-no to have the
lines at any point
higher than the top of the master cylinders. Would it be possible that fluid
would run back and out of the top of the master cylinder.
Thanks for your help
Brian
