Thanks for all the responses - SilkaFlex, PolyZap, and Lexel were all
recommended. Lexel was the only one readily available in the sticks
of Idaho where I live, so I'll try it this morning.
Did I say this list has been the single most important resource for the
building, and now completion of my Zodiac? Thanks you'all!

Info@zenithair.com is the only email account that bounces my emails back. I
thought maybe someone on the matronics-zenith list has or had the same
problem and found a solution. Basically, when I send an email to the above
address, this is the response I get:

I used my hotmail account and forwarded the message to info@zenith.com but
didn't hear back. I called my ISP and they looked at the message and said
that they didn't use the 204. IP, so the message from ktis.net wasn't valid.
What to do? I called ktis.net support and they said that they didn't handle
ZAC's account.
Any ideas?

Subject: | Sky Shops 701 Firewall Forward Retrofit Package....Done! |
--> Zenith-List message posted by: "Tom and Joyce Schulke" <classpix@sbcglobal.net>
Just finished installing the 701 FWF Retrofit kit from Sky Shops. The kit was very
complete and it is for the Rotax 912 engine. The only parts I was missing
was the carburetor heat cable and the nuts for the prop bolts. The folks at the
factory packed a throttle cable instead of the carburetor heat. I just ordered
one from "Spruce" and was reimbursed by Sky Shops. The prop bolts were a bit
too long for my Warp Drive and while they could be cut down I just ordered
New AN bolts and nuts. The challenges I ran into were. 1) The muffler shroud
for gathering air for the carburetor heat was too small for my muffler. The mufflers
that are made in the Czech Republic are about 1/2 inch smaller. It was
however easy to make the small modifications that were quickly sent to me by
the engineer in the Czech Republic. 2) The way my engine was installed the new
cowl needed to have a bump put on the right side to clear the carburetor. In
was actually touching. This probably will not be a issue on most 701's as every
one is unique. Other 701's I've seen did not need the right bump. (They come
with one on the left side) 3) Right now the oil runs on the hot side at high
cruse power....A little baffling to force all the air coming at the oil cooler
to run through should work. No big deals but I like to tell it as it is.
I picked up about 4 to 5 mph on my first tests. This was done without repitching
the warp drive 3 blade 70" prop. This puts cruse at about 5200 rpm 100mph.
I may repitch the prop to see if I can get more speed....and then I may not as
it will soon be going on the Czech 1200 Amphibious floats that I will be picking
up at Oshkosh. ( Ordered last spring) My final goal is to have a cruse of
90 MPH on the floats. I like the looks of the new cowling. With the air box
the 701 has more power. This may not be important for a land plane but for a soon
to be Amphibian it's a must. I'll have the time flown off soon and then I
want to get out to visit some of my fellow 701 owners in Wisconsin before starting
the float project. Every time I fly the "Odd Duck" I get a big smile on
my face!

I have no financial interest in Sky Shops other than spending lots of $ with them.

The new Firewall forward is on the "Odd Duck" my STOL 701. The old (25 hours) one
is for sale. It is set up for a Rotax 912. Nice shape.
I'll sell it for 1/2 of what Zenith gets for one plus shipping. Or if you are going
to Oshkosh pick it up and save on shipping. I'm only 35 miles away. I do
not know what Zenith sells one for. (Top and Lower) Find out and save some $$$.

I'm having the same problem with Info@zenithair.com getting bounced back.
Why would this email address generate zenithair@ktis.net ? After this
happened several times, I turned to fax, but would rather use email. The
Info@ . . address is the one on their website. Robert Schoenberger 701

My guess on the mail bouncing is the host mailbox has reached capacity.
This is a busy time of year for Zenith and nearly everyone is out of office.
I sent them a note 10 days ago that has not been responded to. Usually I
get a response in 1 to 2 business days.
On the question of why its generating an error from zenithair@ktis.net, my
educated guess is that info@zenithair.com (the case should not matter) is an
alias pointing to the ktis.net address. This isn't unusual when you have
an outside company hosting your website. It's similar to having a GMAIL
account forward all your mail to another address. If either mailbox is
full, the sender will get an error.

Paul,
Have not used it yet, but obtained Sikaflex, and appropriate cleaner and
primer, from Fisheries Supply in Seattle. They were good to work with.
The reports about it sure sound good. I am going to try it with the 701
even though I don't have a real canopy to deal with.

Subject: | XL Rudder fairing |
--> Zenith-List message posted by: Rico Voss <vozzen@yahoo.com>
Fellow fiberglass itchers,
There's been some people that have attached the fiberglass
rudder fairing to the rear topskin -- by putting the
fiberglass piece on top of the rear skin, instead of under
it. This seems like a better idea, as I dont see any way
to get the tucked-under fairing off without pulling the
rudder.
And someone suggested putting the up-elevator cable
turnbuckle under that fairing, for easier adjustment.
Sounds like a great idea.
Has anyone found any down-side to this plan??
Thanks in advance,
Tio Rico, XL/3300, nearing the end of the fuse....

I feel funny answering this question since I am not anywhere near
facing this problem -- I am just completing my tail parts.
My rudder faring included in the kit is a sheet of aluminum. Either
this has changed or I just don't understand what the issue is here.
Perhaps using a sheet of metal instead of the fiberglass is the new
way to do this?

Paul, I wonder if you're looking at the leading edge of the
rudder -- it is a sheet. The part I'm interested in is the
molded fiberglass piece that blends the rear topskin up to
the rudder leading edge (p/n B-21-5, I think). I dont see
how they could make it from alum. sheet.
