      Hi listers,

I've encountered another frustrating delay in my project. The alignment between
the wing strut and pick up plate on the gear/strut fitting is way off. I'd estimate
it at 8 to 10 degrees. I noticed that a couple of other builders have
encountered this problem. I figure I'll have to cut the pick up plate out and
have it re-welded unless anyone else has a solution that has worked.

I've e-mailed Zenith regarding this but haven't hear back from them as of yet.

      Bill,

No, its not painted yet. I'll be doing that soon after flying. I'm
waiting for my DAR inspection. Hopefully that'll be in the next couple
of weeks, but I don't have a date yet.

I just stuck to the plans and didn't change anything. Also, the
Skyshops seats are very light. I weigh a bit under 120lbs, so I expect
      that'll help performance too!

Dear Thread Friends, I want to check the balance on my Sensenich prop. I have
seen the Buzz Master balancer sold from Airwolf. Seems like a really simple
machine to build. Only needs to mill a 1 inch center slug and string the bubble

from a line level. It can be seen in the Spruce Catalogue on page 173; or
on 800-airwolf.com as p/n 2416. Anybody ever see one on these things used ?
Anyone got an opinion on it's reliability? Hope everyone is doing well, Best
      regards, Bill

I will be starting on my wing soon and I have a question about the
long range tank installation. I purchased the 4 tank option. I
don't like the idea of having to feed the engine from each tank. I
would rather pump from the outboard tanks into the inboard
tanks. That way I can pump two of the tanks empty without having the
      engine run a tank dry.

My Cessna 206 has Flint tip tanks, and this is how they work (you
pump from the tips into the mains and feed the engine only through
the mains). The Flint system uses two Facet pumps and some check valves.

Have any of you installed a pump system like this in your wing?

      Doug,

I have installed the 4 tank option in my completed wings. Thought about this setup
feeding the mains but went with the Zenith design mostly because I would have
no clue how to set this up and get it to work properly without a major delay
in construction. The inboard tanks feed the square box gascolator with a drain
behind pilot seat and exits to the selector. The outboard(aux) tanks feed
to their own gascolator with drain located in same area. The selector is just
in front of the seat and will be labeled I/B tanks O/B tanks OFF.
In theory the tanks should drain evenly and seek level to eachother unless one
wing is low. Although the O/B tanks are the option I would figure that these should
be used first if all are filled. Right now though I am trying to figure
out how to fit the 2 gascolators in behind the seat with out inteference to flap
handle, rudder cable and stay clear of the tunnel. I'm using the rubber lines
and fittings from Zenith which does not make it easy to stay clear of other
things but will figure it out. This usually happens while shooting some hoops
in front of the house or in a dream late at night.

I built my table the same height as my table saw. That way I could
still use the table saw with the airplane table as an out-feed.

I doubt it matters all that much how high the table is. On the other
hand, it is reasonably important that the top is very flat. That way
your airplane parts will not be twisted or warped.

      Good luck,

      Dave,

I am also 5' 10". After weeks of careful thought, evaluations of the weights
and leverages involved in lifting and turning items, a close scrutiny of the
anatomy and the effects of bending, pushing, leaning, etc., a diagramed
calculation of the geometry of working on items that may be in the center of
the table at various heights, I determined that the best working height for
my table is: The exact height of my table saw, which is positioned at the
      end of the table.

      Happy building,

Table height is specified in your builder's manual. I have two 12' in my
shop one at waist height which is great for storage and small
assemblies, and one at just above knee height which is great for large
assemblies. David built his with the proper height set out in the manual
and it truly the best setup I have worked on. Another handy thing is a
rolling tray to hold tools/plans and coffee. It saves a lot of walking
      in the shop.

      Dave:

The only thing that really mattered in my building process was that the table had
wheels on it. I had to move mine around quite a bit since I keep both cars
and an airplane in my garage at night. Get the hard wheels and not the inflatable
kind. I have to air mine up more than I would like. Here's what mine looked
like in one of it's configurations (It went from 8' to 12' then to 6' long
      during it's life).

      http://www.cooknwithgas.com/5_25_03_WorkTable.jpg

and here it is at 12':

      http://www.cooknwithgas.com/12_20_03_Rightwing.JPG

I used 3/4" MDF from Lowes and 2x4's. The wheels came from Harbor Freight.

Mine is 30" from floor to table top (762mm in ZAC-speak) - I'm 5'10" also and it
seemed to work out fine for me. I have a corvair engine sitting on it right
      now
