Brad, I have not built a plane or even can fly a plane ,but I can tell you
that the 3m stuff will not work for the long haul. The best stuff is to use
is vinyl top & trim adhesive. You have to buy a cheap spray gun because it
only comes as a liquid in a can. Most upholstery shops have it in stock just
call around and ask for a quart or so. The glue cost about 60.00 for 5 gal,
so a quart should not cost much. Spray light coats of glue on both sides
then wait about 5min to put together. Make sure that you have it right the
first time as this stuff will not come apart. I have done upholstery jobs 10
years ago and still can not get the carpet off the panels. Hope this helps.

Brad, the 3M would probably be fine, I use a structural adhesive like Liquid Nails
to bond carpet to MDF. LN has a steel and metal framing adhesive that is
approved for use on aluminum. One side has to be porous like carpet -not metal
to metal bonding. Look at Home Despot or Lowes for it and also an indoor-oudoor
carpet that has very light backcoating to reduce weight. They both carry
a line that is very light compared to regular carpet.

Cut the carpet to fold up into the shape that just fits the wing locker. Use
thin (.016") aluminum to custom bend angle pieces to reinforce the corners.
Use large head fabric rivets to fasten the carpet to the aluminum angles.
Duct tape over the drawn rivet heads to keep them from scratching the inside
of the compartment. Along the top edge, leave enough carpet to fold over a
thicker strip of aluminum (.035") so that when riveted, the top edge is a
roll of carpet with the cut edge hidden next to the compartment walls.
My personal preference would be to have a seamstress sew a zippered cordura
nylon tote bag that fit the dimensions of the locker. The bag could be left
in place inside the wing locker or taken out to haul the contents around
with you.

--> Zenith-List message posted by: Matt Dralle <dralle@matronics.com>
Dear Listers,
I will be implementing some major upgrades to the Matronics
infrastructure today, Sunday 09/11/2005. During the upgrade, web
services such as the Archive Search Engine, List Browser, and the
Subscription Page will not be available. Additionally, incoming and
outgoing List Email will not be processed during this time, although
no actual email should be lost only queued for later delivery.
This is a rather substantial upgrade and includes moving all network,
computer, and UPS equipment to a new systems rack. I hope to have
everything back on line by 8PM PDT tonight or sooner if all goes well.
This is an awesome upgrade that I've been wanting to do for a long
time, and should help increase availability of the Matronics systems
to near 99.99%!
Thank you for your patience!
