Dave, I've got my rudder and stabilizer -elevator assembly hanging along one wall
of my shop. Having a metal building, there are not really any good solutions
for putting up things like pegboard. I had a couple of panels of metal display
grids- 2ftx4ft wire panels 6ft high with 3" spacingof the grid. Use long
pegs like pegboard hooks. Having extra 4" wide carpet strips from remnants,
I made long loops to go around the parts and fastened to some scrap wood strips
that fit over the pegs. Works pretty good. I also reused the kraft paper to
cover the hanging parts to keep dust off them. Picts available if my description
is hard to understand.

I kept my parts wrapped until I was ready to use them, the paper helps prevent
scratches.
One of the two rolls of aluminum is probably the large sheets for the rear fuselage
and the other is probably the upper and lower rear wing skins. These can
be stored rolled but be carefull when unrolling them, they tend to spring back
to their flat state with some speed.
Make sure the storage area is not going to be damp, 6061 is corrosion resistant
not corrosion proof.
It should be safe to hang completed parts on a wall. When I finished my first wing,
I wrapped it in paper and suspended it nose down with several pieces of rope
tied around it with pieces of heavy cardboard between the rope and wing at
the bottom to spread the load. This gave me the room to work on my second wing.

I made brackets out of 1" square tube and attached them to the ceiling above
the garage door which is 7 foot wide, the rudder, stabilizer, ailerons,
flaps and elevators are stored there and there is still room left. The small
parts are stored in three boxes on a shelf under the 4 x 12 foot table I
built for this purpose, large items, spars, nose skins, etc. were stored on
the floor under the bench and flat stock is against the wall behind the work
bench. I have a two car garage and I have plenty of room to work on my
project.

This is the most comprehensive list of performance specifications I have
seen compiled, so far. Would be great if everyone could let us know then get
it added to this site.

I took the plywood and 2x4s from the 601XL shipping box and made a 4x12 tray, the
depth of a 2x4.
3 strap hinges secured it to the wall approx waist high. 3 large eye screws along
the edge and 3 large eye screws on the wall (located in the studs. Place all
flat sheet metal in tray. Fold up against the wall and secure eye to eye with
rope or clips.

Dave,
I recently hung my completed horiz stab and elevator assembly from the
garage ceiling using hooks and one inch wide web straps. This worked well
for me. Here's a pic http://dgardea.mybesthost.com/images/P9030496.JPG

Hi Rick et all,
my CH 601 HDS with Rotax 912 cruises at 115 mph at 4,900 RPM and approx. 75
% throttle. Still trying to find the best setting for the prop at WOT, but
believe, that speed > 125 mph is easily possible.
Prop is in-flight adjustable Woodcomb (3 blades)
Empty weight is 650 lbs
Tricycle gear - no wheel pants
Happy flying

Hi list
i am working on my fuse and hope to start putting
things together in a few months. i intend to paint
the aircraft white with some other colors for trim and
eye appeal
my question is as follows.
i have a place and a preson to help paint the
differnet sections which will not interfere with my
building
what is are your comments on painting the parts before
final assembly. due to my somewhat heavy handed
building skills, i am likely to scrach the finish, but
i would try and be careful
is it likely that the final assembley will not destroy
to much of the painting. are there certain parts that
could be painted and wait on the others?
what do you think?

Hi John,
I suggest to paint the airplane after the first flights - you WILL find some
things that need to be changed, which in turn will impact the paint job.

John: I intended to paint the zodiac myself and even bought $700 worth of flame
red imron and primer ect.( which is for sale if it can be shipped). I then decided
to move about 150miles away and ran out of time or the place to paint. I
took the pieces to Macco (yes the auto paint guys) and had them do it. The whole
thing was $1900 and the job looks great. I will start to put it together soon
and I will let you know if it was a mistake to paint first. I just moved
and I have dial up internet until Thursday but I will post the paint pictures
as soon as possible. Jack in Los Osos Ca

Hi brad & list,
I've got an A65 which I've converted to an A80 mounted on my 701. I'm not
in the air yet, ( 90% and holding). What were you curious about and where
are you located ?
