These are a couple of photos of my Dynon D10A, before and after installation in
my XL. I used the flush mounting plate and rivetted it onto the panel (the grounding
connection is good and I don't plan on removing the mounting plate, although
it'd just be a case of drilling the rivets out if I do).
Still to see whether I've managed to line up the angles of the EFIS with the remote
compass module accurately though.... [Rolling Eyes]

Sorry, I just saw the question about "what is a grease whip". Guess it didn't
make it to my e-mail and I haven't gotten use to checking this forum yet.
Anyway a grease whip is the little hose on the end of a grease gun. It is 1/4
NPF on both ends. They can be purchased at almost any auto parts. I got mine
at NAPA. Twelve inch is the most common.

Here's some of mine. I bought the flush mount, but didn't use it, since most of
my other avionics 'poked out' the same amount....

I think I managed about 25 degrees of travel. Takes almost 7 seconds. I rarely
use over 2-3 'seconds' of flap.

--> Zenith-List message posted by: "Thilo Kind" <thilo.kind@gmx.net>
Hi folks,
quite a while back we discussed the issue of the nose gear bungee breaking. Some
of you had developed a safety stop, so that the nose gear won't go through the
upper skin.
One of you designed a safety stop, that also serves to connect a tow bar. I'm very
interested in the design, since I'm installing wheel pants, thus my old tow
bar design wouldn't work anymore.
Thanks

Hello!
Does anybody know a (free) software that allows to draw a simple elecitrical
wiring diagram? Would be great to plan the wiring diagram for my XL (and
will be part of the mandatory POH, I have to write for the plane).
Cheers

Here is the free download site for TurboCad LE 4.0
http://www.al-ki.com/tcad/download.php
It is more than capable of handling your wire charts.
This is a very easy program to use. I liked it so much that I may go out
and get the complete package which I think is the object behind making this
version available.

Martin,
Try http://www.expresspcb.com
They are free and very simple. You can draw your own custom components and save
them for use in
other drawings. You will want to use the expressSCH software to draw the schematics.
The
expressPCB is for setting up electronic boards. It worked for me!

Thilo,
I did my safety stop/tow bar ring from an example provided by Bill
Morelli. The T-bar handle is thin 4130, 5/8-inch o.d. with an aluminum tube
riveted between it and a tube welded to a tapered flat with a 2-inch
slot and side pieces also slotted for the AN3 screws.
The ring, 3/8-inch thick, 2-inch i.d. and 3-inch o.d. was milled,
drilled and tapped to accept the connecting AN3 bolts front and rear.
The ring is cut in two
after turning and machining is complete. Wish I had better pictures to
offer right now, but you get the idea from the links below,

Hello folks,
I started building my 601XL from scratch a couple of weeks ago. I'll be
riveting the skin to my rudder skeleton tomorrow. I had absolutely no sheet
metal experience when I started this project. Thanks to the wealth of
information on this list and the patience of Scott Laughlin and Kevin Bonds,
who have answered my numerous email questions, I'm off to a good start.
Actually, I'm pretty amazed at how well its turned out, so far. Thanks to
all.
