Anyone have any thoughts on the best place on a Zenith 601 firewall to install
the oil recovery system? Also, where the connections go? There isn't any installation
instructions that I could find on this part. Thanks.

Hello all,
I have a few questions on 601hd brakes. I am installing matco wheels and
brakes.
1) I have looked at several pics and noticed the bleeder screws at the top
of the caliper on some planes and the bottom on others is one way correct ?
2) On the install Kit from ZAC you get 3x 90 degree elbows and 1x180
degree. I put the 180 on the right pilot pedal is this correct (I only have
the plans no assembly documentation)
3) What brake fluid should I use. Will Dot 5 silicon based be OK ?
Thank You

Hi fellow builders: A few days before starting my Rotax engine for the first
time, I put a couple gallons of premium auto gas in each wing tank to make
sure there were no leaks. Just before starting the engine, I drained some
fuel from the wing tanks and the gascolator to check for water-there was none.
The wing tanks were fine but the fuel sample from the gascolator was tinted
to the color of dark beer. I kept draining the gascolator until it was the
color of the wing tank fuel sample. The engine started and ran fine.
I checked the gascolator the next day and the fuel was still tinted although
not as much.
I am using the fuel lines supplied by Zenith in my 701 kit.
Question- Has anyone else had a similar experience with tinted fuel from the
gascolator?
Thanks in advance, Mike Elrod 701 99% complete

Looking for help,
I purchased am installing new matco wheels and brakes on my 601hd. I have looked
at various pics on the web and it seems some people have the bleeder screws
on the top of the caliper, and some on the bottom. Which way is correct ? Also
can you use dot-5 slicon based brake fluid or must it be aviation brake fluid
?
Thanks Gord

I just installed my fuel tanks and washed them out with lacquer
thinner before installing them. I noticed that the solvent that I
drained out was tinted.
The tanks were part of my kit from ZAC.
