I made a perfectly acceptable edge-former out of those nylon spacers
sold in hardware stores. I got a pair of spacers about 1/4 inch thick
and about 7/8 diameter with a 3/8 hole through the middle. Put
another 3/8 ID spacer in the hole as a bushing, then using a washer to
hold the 7/8 piece, screw through the bushing into a piece of wood
with some aluminum behind it so the edge of your skin will slide nice.
Really just a few minutes of work and it does a fine job.

Hinde's response, the "wheel thingy" Frank referred to is an "edge former", available
for $39 from Cleaveland Tool (cat. no.EF60). It does a great job and
the riveted joints look very professional. You can get a similar result on a
straight edged part by letting the part hang over the edge of a worktable by
about 1/4 inch and gently tapping the overhanging edge along it's length with
a rubber mallet. This takes practice to get a really good looking result and
it doesn't work so well on curved parts. I've tried both ways and I recommend
the $39 tool.

Zed,
I would suggest you talk with Phil, Kerry or Shane at Lockwood Aviation in
Fl. Phil has talked about the oil system thermostat at his open forums at
Sun N Fun and Oshkosh. I believe it is also a bypass valve for cold weather
starts. I don't have one one my Rotax 912 UL (80hp) but I do have a couple
of cover plates that I can quickly remove/install on my Rotax oil cooler. My
usual problem is low oil temp!

I've got a similar tool, but it doesn't work on curved parts like
inspection covers (which is the only place I really need it). Does
anyone know how to create that edge on inspection plate covers?

I don't know that I got it exactly right, but close enough for me. I have
ground four of them for different rivet pullers. I just heated up the nose piece
to a cherry red and let it cool. Then it can be ground with any number of
tools. I have used a Dremel with both round cutting heads and round grinding
heads. I think the metal ones give a smoother result.

/No need for heat if you use the round nose fine grit grind stone, does an excellent
job.

Thread Friends, at SnF Pete from Jab mentioned a type/brand of monitor system
that had problems with the Jab electric system, gave a bunch of incorrect
readings and no one could figure out why. I wasn't paying much attention so I
missed the brand name of the system, but before planning and buying, if going
Jab, the prudent builder would contact him and see which system it was and if the
bug had been resolved, FWIW, Bill of Georgia

Welcome to the list and the land of Zenith builders.
I only have one thing to say about your web cam. You are going to need a bigger
table.
Well, actually 2 things.
Don't turn on the audio or the site WILL get rated "R" for language.

This does not answer any of your questions but on the yahoo group
called zenithkitaircraft in the files section there are some old handouts
of many of the different models from before the ch601 series came along.
You will need to register with the site to see them.

I attended an EAA workshop on sheet metal work last weekend. One method I learned
for forming the edge for a inspection cover is to make a wooden form with
the same outside dimensions as the cover. Next, use a file or a sander of some
kind to put a bevel or rounded edge on the wood form. Clamp your cover on
the form and then go around the edge with a rubber mallet or plastic hammer and
tap the aluminum into the desired contour.
