Dear List,
I had the first XL on the PFA register here in England last year and had =
a problem with lack of nose up pitch trim when using full flap, I have =
the almost full span trim tab fitted. A friend who also had the same =
problem taped an extension the trailing edge of his trim tab increasing =
it's effective are by about two thirds and this did the trick. The PFA =
where not happy with mod and refused to approve it.
The fix they came up with at the factory (CZAW) was to connect the =
control yoke to the flap operating shaft with an arm and spring, this =
pulls on the stick as the flaps are operated. The nose down pitch has =
not been cured completely but only slight back pressure is required.
Please feel free to e-mail me if you need more info at =

All the best,

Pretend you have two sets of wings, the standard CH 701 and the Pegastol, both
are perfect and ready to instal... which would you choose?
Any real world numbers of performance between the two wings?

Morning all...Well I was on the cusp of waving my bird goodbye on
Monday morning for its 2500 mile ferry flight from Oregon to Texas when
the deal fell through.
So once again its up for sale. If anyone wants or knows someone who
would like a well sorted (sport pilot compliant) HDS let me know.
Cheers
Frank

Just a note to say this sad day I placed my airplane on
www.barnstormers.com Listed as Sport pilot compliant. I will be sad to
see her go but I have moved onto finishing up my RV7a.
Let anyone you know who might like a well sorted 601.
Thanks

RE: "What is intended to be held by the fittings" is the
aft attachments of the mounting straps, for the
fuselage header fuel tank (if installed).
Thanks everyone for the help. I am building the plane with leading edge
wing tanks only. So this is the answer about what the fittings are for and
also about why I don't need the fittings (6F12-6).

Sure Jim,
Out of the box the HDS will make about 125mph top speed at 8GPH. There
is more to be had but it will take a little work in cleaning up the
airframe. I normally cruise it around 110 to 115mph at about 4.8 to
5Gph...Premium autofuel.
Stall speed at gross is about 50mph CAS...I.e just inside the Sport
pilot limit.
Engine is rated at 100hp with a three blade Warp drive prop.
Empty weight 683 plated at 1200 gross, but have flown it up to 1300lb
with no problems.
I have re posted the ad at www.Barnstormers.com..Search under Zenith.
It's a nose gear airplane unpainted, night VFR with strobes and Mode C.
Everything works, which I understand is unusual...:). JPI flow scan fuel
trip computer.
Just completed the annual

Jeff,
If you've no intention of putting in a header tank, you don't need to
install the 6F12-6 angle
located on the instrument panel bulkhead 6F12-5 support panels. You
probably do need to
extend the panels forward to anchor the instrument panel angle and
reduce twist loads by the radio
and instruments though. I'd put lightening holes in a longer 6F12-5 and
anchor it to the firewall.
A light piece of standard angle between the -5 panels could be used as a
support for bundled
electric wires.

I live in Colorado at 7200 feet elevation, I will be flying off grass. There
are many 10,000 foot days during the Summer.
Question - which engine would be best for this application, Jabiru 3300,
Jabiru 2200, Rotax 912m, Rotax 914, O235, turbine?

John,
I am here in Colorado at 9,100'. I am planning something Turbo'd. You =
derate HP of and engine around 3% per 1,000 in elevation. I haven't =
gotten this far yet, still cutting out parts, but I have been doing some =
research on engines, and haven't come up with a solution yet. I don't =
want to pay the price of a 914, but I would like something tried and =
proven also.

--> Zenith-List message posted by: Christopher Hazlitt <chrishazlitt@yahoo.com>
I saw a CH 700 today at the Big Lake airport in Alaska and was surprised how tiny
it is. My wife says it is a snow mobile with wings, engine has smaller HP than
many snow machines too.
I like it's performance but if it was half way between that and a 801 I would
be happier, but I am sure at a cost to take off run if it were. One of the things
which bothers me about it is how low to the ground it is, especially the
prop. The Slepcev Storch is starting to appeal to me due to being so far off the
ground. If only it had flapperons and a little more high end speed!
